Hate this school, is this just me?
I recently transferred here for a shitty college town school, and I’ll say this one is shitty. I’m not sure if they’re running a money laundering operation in this shit, but they overcharge for EVERYTHING here. They obviously do not care about the students as much as their income. And most of the shit here is lazy at best insulting at worst. How can we fix it? I can’t be here for the next couple of years and run myself in debt for this bullshit. Please don’t come in here defending the schools name I’m not into fake shit. How can we actually improve some of this shit?

I think college everywhere is expensive and everything at college is expensive. We don’t have the same campus culture as U of M or other schools and I think they want to work on that. This is one of the most affordable schools in Michigan.

We are cooked as a generation. Someone rightfully complains about how universities are getting more and more expensive over time despite quality not improving and folks just tell you to shut up and stop complaining. I miss when Gen Z was actually about improving the world instead of just being the next boomers telling you to fall in line

This!! Why I don’t like Reddit especially, it’s like you need a resume of qualifications to complain and it’s ridiculous. I’m not even boot licking a college that I personally love! Everyone has a space to complain, esp in the current economic realities people are facing rn. Also people acting like I’m crazy is so funny to me, as on EMU social apps this is a common sentiment. I’m assuming most of these people have to be staff or EMU loyalists lol.

Could you be a good student and get into a real school somewhere?

Seeing as this is a real school and I have a perfect GPA, of course I fucking could lol. But can’t transfer as of now.

I don't believe you. There's a large neighboring school in the county that's very good at transferring in-staters and that has a scholarship program for literally all students in need.

Seeing as you don’t know my situation, I don’t really give a fuck if you believe me or not lol. But thanks for dropping information I’m aware of!

Every school overcharges lol. It doesn't take a genius to know that the price of college is a scam.

I’m also aware of this. But this college does more so than the colleges I’ve been to. And with former colleges, you tend to receive more benefits. The quality and care here sticks out like a sore thumb.

I’m not paying for my education here, but can you elaborate what you hate about it, and preferably compare that to all the other schools you’ve apparently been to?
I’ve tried the large lecture hall classes at a bigger university, and personally, i hated it. I like being able to interact with my professors personally, the smaller classes of mostly engaged students makes it easier to stay focused in class, and the campus is large but not so large that i have to worry when scheduling classes.
As far as the money side goes, again, im not paying for my education, but i see the charges and while it is expensive af, its gotta be pretty reasonable comparatively cuz its fairly close to what i was paying at a major university almost 10 years ago, with a small scholarship. I dont know if the networking opportunities are better or worse here, but i have to imagine being so close to UofM means it’s pretty damn good for a lot of majors.
Sorry you’re going through a rough time, either way
