is yoink what I think it is?

i mean, i hope so?
i mean "yoink" like the cartoonish sound effect of grabbing something away.
the Thai word is pronounced "yaeng" and it basically means snatch or grab. i admit my translation choice is idiosyncratic -- yoink is very informal and probably would not be used on a sign like this -- but it sounds kind of similar and just feels right.

I have no idea how it got that translation. It says โปรด (please) ระวัง ( be careful). ลิง (monkey) แย่ง (grab).
(Please be careful. Monkey grab)
Maybe they tried to write themselves? I know Thai’s have a cooked English in general.
Edit: I fixed my mistake, im still a learner

No, it’s not ไป (go) it’s โปรด (please). Please be aware - monkey snatching

Oh yeah I see, the tail is in the other direction. My bad, I started learning not long ago. I’ll edit that comment to fix it.

It’s not a translation. It’s totally phonetic. “Be careful. Snatching stuff.” An employee probably says this all the time to English speaking tourists from whom they likely also learned it.
That’s some good, honest pidgin right there. It’s why Jamaican Patois and Haitian Creole look insane when you read them, but once you say it out loud, they’re 90% comprehensible to an English or French speaker respectively.

The Thai says something like: 'You must be careful of monkeys snatching things'

I think it's supposed to say please be careful of monkeys snatching stuff (your belongings) but I don't read the original language
