True Meaning of Enlightenment
It has come to my attention that there are very deep flaws scattered throughout modern discourse of enlightenment. The mesmerizing concept has been obscured through projection of the modern morality and limited understanding of the world, coating it in mundanity. It is time to leave this tiring framework of thought and acquaint ourselves with enlightenment as it has been understood since the dawn of time, through the eyes of a child.
All great men or even men who are a little out of the common, that is to say capable of giving utterance to something new, must by their very nature be criminals - more or less, of course. The extraordinary individuals are necessarily in conflict with nature, because the path to any worthwhile destination will cut maze walls in evermore creative ways, that will only ever be known to the few people who discover them on their own.
The origin of human consciousness is an awakening to the invisible disarray around us. Conscious or not, humans are machines that seek means to an end, and the ordering of chaos is the foundational desire of a human mind, beyond any carnal or social desire. Discovery and creation are 2 sides of the same coin, so to discover, that is, create order, is the the answer to the last question, it is the true meaning of enlightenment.
An enlightened person is, first and foremost, the architect of their own life. They do not yearn, compromise or come to terms with what they cannot change, instead they simply do the impossible. Their lives are guided by controlled obsession as opposed to desire. They are intelligent, knowledgeable and physically fit. There may be exceptions, but never in more than one of these qualities. They simultaneously live a life of monastic discipline and rampant hedonism, virtue and malice, success and failure. They flout the rules of nature with elegance and composure.
Do not fall for the trap of altruism; a life of subservience is a life of wasted potential.
Do not fall for the trap of mundanity; the world is truly mystical.
Never lose focus of the vision.
That is the basis of all spiritual development.

andrew tate ass definition of enlightenment lmao, the essence of wisdom is not understood through conscious effort, sure you can accumulate knowledge endlessly through the means you describe, but those that get what im referring to know you cant learn it from any book, and learning to trust it will allow you more access to knowledge than even any individual school of philosophy or discipline could contain. the catch is you dont really get to decide what type of knowledge that wisdom manifests into. That said, luckily the knowledge that you intuit through these means does correlate to what alleister crowley calls ones "true will" so you get the info you need for your heros journey when you need it essentially.
If any of this line of thinking sounds interesting to you, the easiest and quickest entrypoint is within the taoist sage zhuangzhi's "the inner chapters", which theres a wonderful audiobook on youtube, less than 30 minutes total in length and honestly life changing if you allow it to be. you may not find that you resonate with zhuangzhis view of the "holy fool" as the most important spiritually pious archetype and a type of person that one can learn the secrets of the universe from if you pay attention to their proceedings, but tbh from your post it sounds like youre only hip to stoicism when it comes to the various enlightenment traditions, as pretty much all religions have their own mystical components, and within those mystical components many differing schools of thought, and even outside of mystical schools theres a lot of amazing individual thinkers on enlightenment like spinoza, jung, robert anton wilson, robert sapulsky, grant morrison, terrence mckenna, philik k dick, ursula k leguinn, bohm, victor frankl, maimonides, gurdjieff, aldous huxley,

Shakyamuni wasn't a criminal

Ask his wife and children.

You can't cause he let them die. Him and everyone from his generation are dead. So much for the great Shakyamuni.

Are you high?

u/kioma47 11h ago
First of all, it pleases me that you suspect that of me. Secondly, I am disappointed in my constant lack of highness. Thirdly, I question your distraction without answering my point.
You are not a thinker.

Do you suffer from mental illness?

If I may step in and explain, I may be wrong but I think I see and agree with their logic.
First of all, it pleases me that you suspect that of me
I assume this is because of the fact that enlightened people tend to say things in ways that bring this reaction/ question up a lot. It acts as confirmation of enlightenment so long as the 'high' person knows they are compos mentis.
Secondly, I am disappointed in my constant lack of highness
Ain't we all brother... If you don't get it, you don't get it. Nmp
Thirdly, I question your distraction without answering my point.
Proof of the compos mentis I mentioned earlier. This is questioning your words intent rather than addressing them directly, a good sign of mental facilities, not illness.
You are not a thinker.
Just a little insult, maybe if you try being humbled by it you can develop your own mind, alas the ego already sounds bruised and offense has seemingly already been taken.

Wherever there is someone to put down the Buddha, Desperate_Wait1562 will be there to correct injustice.
"Tell me sir, what is your name?"
"I am the Shakyamuni Defender!"
Thank you Shakyamuni Defender!

u/Desperate_Wait1562 1h ago
Why does that bother you so?
2
u/Racoondalini 1h ago
It doesn't. It's just unique. That you hold him so dear. That's cool and all, and it's different, you frequently rushing to his defense. As if the man needed any defense at all.
I rush to peoples defenses, usually scandalized people, and I say, "Hey, look at this objectively" and shit like that. But that is more about seeing scandalized things dispassionately, not about the person themselves. I don't think I'd defend the Buddha since he has like a 99.9 percent popularity rating. I wouldn't care that some rando strayed off from the herd and had a different opinion of him.
Even stranger still, until you showed up I have never heard the name "Shakyamuni". Just goes to show how little invested I am (and how little a threat I am) and yet for you it feels like there is great adoration in that defense to be using an uncommon name (at least in these circles) for this individual.
I'm not accusing you of anything. I am merely observing behaviors. You are allowed to be human, and to have adoration for a person. ^_^
Cheers.

Given your intriguing definition, are there any examples of enlightened ones?
You seem to rather describe Marvel super heroes than enlightened beings.

Steve Jobs, John Lennon and Sam Altman to name a few. There are also many enlightened people who never had a desire for stardom.

Hmmmm … I do think this is odd. Where did you get this from?
From my understanding, Enlightenment is verily to understand emptiness, as the Buddha said, and realize the only way to live in here is through love, freedom and joy, NO MATTER the circumstances. It is not about doing the impossible. It is about understanding that it simply doesn’t matter, what matters is if we’re either suffering or not, in the mind.
Enlightenment is the understanding that none of this is actually happening, it only happens inside the mind. And not with a heart to change it into a million new forms, but to see reality as is and yearn for what is real, while having genuine compassion for those who still are enrolled in the illusion.
You are putting a ton of conditions that are very arbitrary. So disabled people cannot reach enlightenment? So chronically ill people cannot have enlightenment? So fat guys also can’t? Old ladies also not?
Sorry, it seems to me that you are still looking with the eyes, not with the mind. There is no body. There is no person. There is no matter. Once enlightenment is attained, there is only the “”light”” shining through the canvas of life. Simple, gentle light that shines on everything and everyone as it always has, only now the enlightened being understands it in full and appreciates that light.

Congrats, you made your own definition.
You are entitled to do so. I recommend getting published, and you will gain even more authority on your subject.
That said, no one needs to accept your definition. Any operational definition is only valid for the duration of the conversation's time spent on that operational definition.
At any point of the conversation we can switch to another operational definition.
Unless your goal is to have us blindly follow your every whim. Brains have no obligation to copy other brains.

That is not enlightenment. What you're talking about is some psycho stuff. Enlightenment belongs to the schizos

Yeah this did nothing to reveal hidden wisdom nor explain a framework of enlightenment. "They simultaneously live a life of monastic discipline and rampant hedonism, virtue and malice" This sentence reveals you have no understanding of enlightenment for anyone to learn anything besides capitalism and opportunism. There is no deepening of wisdom, expansion of compassion nor liberation from suffering in your proclamation.
