Looking around for friends
I am 25 just came to erlangen for my masters in FAU. Feeling very lonely all the time is thete any groups or people available to chat talk and meet?

Welcome to Erlangen! Yeah feeling lonely is pretty common when you firts move, all of us went through it, so from my experience:
1) The beginning weeks have a lot of events where you can meet people
2) There are a lot of groups around erlangen and the university. If you have an interest you can just look it up on google and add "near me" or "Erlangen". Some recommendations:
- If you like board games ZAM has some game evenings around once i month i think.
- E-werk has different events every week basically
- FAU has many student groups. Some bult cool robot, some debate and some play games. You can find a full list on the Stuve website or around each campus there are posters.
- If you like to make stuff ZAM and FabLab(at techfak) are workshops open to the public. Both have a lot of options (3d printers, laser cutter, cnc, etc...) although ZAM is a bit bigger
- If TTRPGs interest you ZAM (i haven't been there myself but ive heardit from friends) holds some game evenings, and at techfak there is the FAUTT group
- On WhatsApp there is ISN group that often organizes events for international students to hangout(bar evenings, hikes, trivia nights, etc...)
- The spot FAU sport school also offers a lot of courses if you want to try a new sport( although i think most of them are full rn)

Join some clubs, try something you know you enjoy, join one from something new, join a hiking group and go to the fränkische schweiz, go to the berg and meet your future wife… it’s really not that different than any uni anywhere, they’re community/cultural centres so go find people you resonate with through things you collectively enjoy doing!

You’re at the uni so go to student services and ask! Or Online you can check out www.hochschulsport.fau.de for sports. Then the student initiatives (everything from ahdh support, magic the gathering, film clubs and gospel choir) can be found at stuve.fau.de/en/gruppen.
Go have an adventure, it’s why you chose to come here for your masters!

Welcome to erlangen!
Feeling lonely sucks, so hopefully we can help you out with that.
Do you have any interests or hobbies that you might want to pursue? It doesn't matter if you already did them in the past or not, there are many "Vereine" for many different interests. For most of them you can just go and take a look if it's something you're interested in.
What many people enjoy here is board games, there are several groups throughout erlangen such as the alibaba ev on Wednesdays in the röthelheim treff or the ewerk board game groups. Board games have the benefit of a nice atmosphere without too much noise so you can also actually talk to the other people.
If you're a crafty person I can recommend the ZAM in the city center. It's an open workshop where you have all the tools for literally any crafting project. They have a wood workshop, metal workshop, textile workshop and much more.
For sports there are also many options, if you are interested in one just write here and I can check what erlangen has to offer.
