An old family photo of my mom and her grandma. Would love if the colors can be fixed

Any AI work I try to do changes the faces too much, so would be great to get somebody to give this a proper crack so we can lay it to rest with my mother-in-law. This is an iPhone photo of the original, hopefully enough to go off, I will be printing it in it's original size which fits a wallet.

Just a few years ago, my colleagues and I were puzzled by an alarming trend: "restorations" created with a single click began popping up here like mushrooms. Usually they were results made with Remini, which often turned people into mutants: three-eyed figures with orc mouths, children with the eyes of old men, old men with Holyfield's ears...
Later, these were replaced by "masterpieces" hastily cobbled together in early versions of Stable Diffusion or simple services based on it. At that point, "restorations" en masse turned into frivolous guesswork based on the originals; their subjects were, at best, the second cousins of a third cousin's uncle, and at worst, characters straight out of a Cronenberg movie.
And so the era of MMDiT arrived, and the typical "restorer" on the sub became someone who doesn't know how to use graphic editors, but can effortlessly dash off a prompt as quickly as possible, grab the very first result, post it 3 minutes after a new thread with yet another request for a restoration appears, and accept the accolades with the modesty of a budding genius of the visual arts. You'd think, what else is needed for complete happiness and to make the easiest money in the world? But the exponential advancement of technology is spawning competitors among those trying to outsmart everyone. And that brings us straight to what you see in the image accompanying this post (special thanks to u/yuri_dr for bringing it to my attention and managing to take a screenshot of this brilliant marketing move before it self-destructed). Welcome to a new era: AI-restorations of AI-photos masquerading as real restorations of real photographs.
With that in mind, here is a bit of advice for people who need to restore moderately damaged photos but aren't in a position to hire a professional restorer:
Be careful - not all portfolios and results are equally reliable. The human memory deserves respect - authenticity matters.

I am looking to get this thing physically restored. It's my grandmother's, and it's very old and fragile. Does anyone have any idea on where I could go or who I get ahold of to talk to about this?

Hi all,
I am wanting to restore a 6x6" black & white image from a newspaper.
Would these scanner specs be good for it?
Scanner Resolution = 1200 x 1200 dpi
Optical Resolution = 1200 x 600 dpi
Thanks in advance

Found this heavily cracked old photo (military couple). Cleaned up all the damage, restored it, then colorized it. Done with Topaz Photo AI and my own local pipeline — nothing uploaded to any cloud service. Swipe for the progression: original → restored → colorized.

Hey everyone! This is one of the few photos we have where a large part of the family is together, but it has definitely seen better days. It looks quite blurry, the colors are faded, and the overall details are pretty soft.
If anyone could help enhance the clarity, correct the colors, and bring out some of the facial details, it would mean the world to us. Thank you so much in advance for your time and skills!

Hi everyone,
My father recently passed away after a battle with cancer tied to his exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War. We are preparing for his funeral and would love to display this photo of him with his unit during his deployment, but it has a severe physical rip running completely through the center.
The tear cuts right through the bodies and clothing of the men, and the background structures are misaligned. It also has a heavy blue/green color cast and faded contrast over time.
I am looking for an editor who can manually piece this back together, align the background, and restore natural skin tones and colors so we can print it out for his service.

I am more than happy to tip $50 (via PayPal/Venmo) to the best restoration. I truly appreciate any help the community can provide to help honor his memory. Thank you so much.
