A heads-up for anyone booking accommodation in downtown Tórshavn — excessive overnight noise at Red Ruby apartment managed by Vert
We recently spent five nights in Tórshavn at Red Ruby, an apartment managed by Vert (which manages the majority of the apartments in the area) and booked through Airbnb, and I wanted to share our experience in case it helps anyone planning a visit. (Airbnb doesn't allow videos in their reviews).
The apartment itself was charming and otherwise an excellent base for exploring the Faroe Islands, but the first two nights were seriously disrupted by excessive overnight noise.

On Friday night, we were awakened at around 2 a.m. by groups of people drinking/shouting/ loitering outside. Saturday night was considerably worse, with extremely loud amplified music from the next door restaurant and another bar continuing from after midnight into 3am. The music was clearly audible inside the apartment.
I’ve included videos taken during the disturbance so you can hear the level of noise for yourselves.
What surprised us was that the Airbnb listing mentions “noise from city life during the weekend,” while the property’s house rules specify quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. We certainly expected some ordinary city noise given the central location, but we didn’t anticipate amplified music and shouting at that volume and at those hours.
I’m sharing this primarily as a heads-up for anyone considering booking this apartment. If you’re planning to stay at the "Red Ruby" apartment in central Tórshavn on a Friday or Saturday night and uninterrupted sleep is important to you, I’d recommend watching the videos and factoring this experience into your decision.
We LOVED our visit to the Faroe Islands, and the apartment itself had a lot going for it. I simply wish we’d known about the extent of the overnight noise before booking.
