Didn’t you lose to Tarleton in Texas by 10 or something and had the lead multiple times? Could’ve been a very different season

u/jackCDR UC Davis Aggies Nov 09 '25
That game for uc davis should have been a much bigger win, but a win is a win. Tighten up the playcalls and penalties before MSU.
3
u/OceanPoet87 California Golden Bears • UC Davis Aggies Nov 09 '25
Was at the game. Blocked field goal was bad, but the worst was them not continuing to run the ball with roughly 9 minutes left and up by three scores. Instead they threw a pick which led to a TD.
Then Idaho was really close to making it a one score game with maybe 2 and a half minutes left and 2 time outs. Ags pick it off but TD return called back due to a helmet penalty. Thankfully the pick was still allowed.

...now that all the of the FCS games are done for the day...the time has once again come for me to do my research for the annual "clinch guide" post lol

u/Chadly16 Idaho Vandals Nov 09 '25
These refs have been so bad especially after the NAU game. (If I was HC at sac state I'd say they rigged the game to make sure thr big sky got more teams in the playoffs but im not) however bad calls aside we had our chances and didn't do shit with them. Could've won the game but we just couldn't capitalize. So frustrating because we've been so close all year. At least I have some hope for next year.

Killer interception for Idaho. And then a boneheaded penalty to take your helmet off and wipe out the pick 6

Man. I think we might be one of the worst teams in the FCS, easily the worst team in the CAA. Honestly I am glad our games are on Flo Sports, so I and everyone else cannot watch them. We are THAT bad. Fire everyone, blow it all up.

Crazy you guys were national semifinalists only two years ago
8
u/uivandal52 Idaho Vandals • WAC Nov 09 '25
Idaho is infuriating this year because we have possessions both offensively and defensively where we look like an elite, unstoppable unit. And then we come back 30 seconds later and look like a winless joke-fest. And there is absolutely no indication that the team cares which one they are at any given moment.
7
u/thetopace103 UAlbany Great Danes Nov 09 '25
We do not have that problem. We have looked like a winless joke fest all year. Even in our 1 win we were unwatchable.

I noted last year in like game 9 of the season that not a single hold had been called against an Idaho opponent. It has happened maybe four times in the past three years. I've just accepted at this point that it's not going to happen.
5
u/DeKam34 Montana State • Western Wash… Nov 09 '25
In 2024 I counted a total amount of 23 big sky games that I watched. I saw a single digit number of holding calls despite one game having like 5. Big Sky officials simply do not call holding no matter how obvious it is unless you're that exception game.

Last time the Jackrabbits lost 3 in a row was 2011. NDSU, can't think of who, and Lehigh in the playoffs
9
u/Adamscottd South Dakota State • Minnesota Nov 09 '25
I actually looked and that’s not right. If you include all games, we lost three straight in 2015 (including a loss to Nebraska). But if you don’t include games against FBS opponents, you have to go all the way back to 2006.
Crazy thing is, one of those three losses in 2006 was to division 3 UW La Crosse
7
Nov 09 '25
Now that my blood pressure has normalized I guess the silver lining if you're a griz fan is we literally have not played a complete 4 quarters of good football on both sides of the ball all season. But 10-0 is perfect and we're still a game away from home field for the playoffs.
I don't think we've seen this team play it's best football yet. November 22 would be an excellent time to finally peak and put together a complete game.

SDSU's playoff hopes might genuinely rest on Mason's health here - hard to see us beating them with him but if he's out for the next two weeks they might go from 7-0 and #2 all the way to 7-5 and unranked. Nightmare season if they can't take at least one of the last two games

I think you guys beat them with Mason. SDSU is not that good this year
1
u/Adamscottd South Dakota State • Minnesota Nov 09 '25
I think it could definitely swing either way with either QB. This is not a great team- the roster is pretty thin, but the game is in Brookings and the Jacks are still good enough to have a decent chance to win.
Also, while he definitely isn’t Chase Mason, third string QB Jack Henry played pretty well today, all things considered. Much much better than Luke Marble the last two weeks. Gives me at least a little hope for next week.
5
u/SnooMacaroons1606 Illinois State Redbirds Nov 09 '25
I might just be pessimistic, to be fair. We haven't beaten an XDSU or a top ten (ish) team since long before I knew or cared about FCS football so I am used to seeing them as invincible.
2

SDSU vs UND might be for a playoff trip.
4
u/Adamscottd South Dakota State • Minnesota Nov 09 '25
Are you implying that both teams’ playoff hopes rest on that game? Because while a loss for the Rabbits could definitely knock them out, I think an 8-4 UND team with only losses to the other Dakotas and Kansas State gets in.
3
u/SportsballWatcher4 North Dakota State • Minnesota Nov 09 '25
They’d have 5 losses. They lost to Montana too.

1
u/Top_Judge_1943 Montana State Bobcats • Miami Hurricanes Nov 09 '25
Sure, but we’ve now played enough common opponents that we can compare how the teams have performed against said opponents to get a better idea on how the teams compare…and brother, ignoring the W-L column, one team is clearly performing at a different level than the other.
0
u/NutzyPoo53 Montana Grizzlies Nov 09 '25
1 loss > 0 losses
The Griz and Cats have different philosophies in games. The Griz get up and then try to get out of there. The Cats have their starting offense in up 55.
Common opponents are bullshit. The Griz hung 60 on a team who beat the team that beat the cats. We can go round and round all day on this.
3
u/Top_Judge_1943 Montana State Bobcats • Miami Hurricanes Nov 09 '25
If you’re going to talk about the SDSU game without acknowledging the multiple injuries they’ve incurred, you’re just being flat ignorant. Unless you think UM would be the same team with Ah Yat, Wortham, and Wing all injured.
MSU took their starters out in the 3rd quarter. Am I supposed to apologize because MSU has the ability to finish teams off, and apparently UM lacks that? If I were you, I’d be concerned about that, but I suppose you think that’s a feature rather than a bug.
-1
u/NutzyPoo53 Montana Grizzlies Nov 09 '25
We’ll see in two weeks, until then this is all useless speculation. One team is 8-2, and 1 is 10-0. Id rather be 10-0.
4
u/Top_Judge_1943 Montana State Bobcats • Miami Hurricanes Nov 09 '25
I’d rather be the better team. ;)
If the only thing you can talk about is team records, that’s fine, it’s just pretty boring and lazy imo. Talking football is fun. And yes, it is useless speculation. None of it determines what our teams will do. I’m glad you were able to figure that out.
6
u/Adamscottd South Dakota State • Minnesota Nov 09 '25
Obviously being undefeated is good and matters, but that’s just not the case, and Montana State being ranked ahead of Montana by the committee last week proves it.

It literally doesn’t matter right now. The chips are going to be laid down and the cards will be played. Until then they can be interchangeable at either spot and it doesn’t matter until Cat/Griz.
Saying “who looks better” doesn’t matter when:
1) it’s a rivalry game. Arguably the rivalry game.
2) they will be playing each other. No matter what

Home field advantage for the Griz this year hasn’t had near the effect it normally does. Looking at common opponents for Griz vs Cats in Weber and EWU is quite the difference. Cats beat EWU and Weber by 50+ each. You can’t ever predict Cat Griz but wow they aren’t near as good as 10-0 would make you think

Won’t be the worst I’ve watched. The game Bleskin QB’d in the early ‘10s still pains me

You never know with Cat-Griz, but giving up 450 through the air is pretty bad the one year the Cats have a pass first offense

Cats aren’t pass first, but it’s definitely not an afterthought like the last few seasons

Didn't watch the game, but sounds like we were close to having a thirds straight week where the Number 2 teams falls to a rival.

What an insane win. Fumbled spike on the goal line

I don't think I have ever seen that before. Obviously he was hurrying and just slipped. But what a way to lose. Poor kid.

After that game I don't want to hear any complaints from the Griz fans about the committee playoff rankings having the cats in front seeding wise.

If only there was a game on the schedule where we can measure the two teams against each other before the playoffs.

Yeah, the Griz should be ahead of the cats. 9 D1 wins vs 7 D1 wins.

And it all gets sorted out in two weeks. I’m not sure why it even matters right now where the committee places them. It’s beneficial for the Cats in 2 over the Griz to justify the possibility of flip flopping them if the Cats lose a close game. This point in the season a win is a win for the Dakota and Montana teams.

I know UM isn’t the STEM school, but you should probably check your math

I'm sorry, but WCU fans not realizing the field goal was wide right and storming the field is kinda funny.
Rough way to lose.

They did what now?

WCU was attempting a field goal to win the game against mercer. The kick was wide right but the WCU fans thought it went through and stormed the field.

UND offensive coordinators desk should be empty as off 12 noon today. Yes he didn't miss the kick or throw the INT, but who in there right minds lines up in the gun at 4 and inches with game on the line and passes 3 times at first and 3 at the goal line. Hes had his chance get him the hell oit of there.
