Men's Basketball Can This Year's Fighting Illini Finish What the Legendary 2004–05 Team Started? Do You See That Same Chemistry and Potential in Today's Roster?

They should be capable. It’s not easy to win the natty so who knows. But they are as close to that team as possible in terms of chemistry. A very similar core two years in a row is this era’s version of continuity.

Who the hell knows. It's not like they were dominant all of last year. Tread carefully...

True but they dominated Houston, a team that was near the top of the polls almost all year and did have natty possibilities

Totally. That was a big-time win.

Meh. While Houston was a big win being it was a win against someone who seemed to always get the best of Underwood in the past, it became clear that the B12 was not the great conference everyone thought through out the season.

Chemistry? No, but it’s a completely different game now with NIL. Potential, I sure hope so. That ‘05 team had several guys take huge steps forward so only time will tell.

Depends on Vaaks and Coleman fit in. That and everyone else improving. David is the key to this team, but Vaaks could be incredible.

Chemistry on that team was off the charts.

Video gave me chills remembering that season. Such a fun experience as a fan. That team was a bunch of rock stars.

Chemistry, honestly probably not. That 04-05 is remembered more than most national championships because of the way they played. Their ball movement was a thing of beauty. Now, can this current team get to the final 4 and win it, I think so. I can’t wait for the season to get started.

PG is by far the most important position in college basketball. How is the PG play going to be?
