Discussion Happy 6th bday to shore

Post image

I remember the day it came out. A moment of hope in the pandemic. It was raining on the first day of fall.

This album captures late summer into early autumn so well.

This album gave me a reason to wake up in the morning during a covid divorce

Same. I separated a year after it came out and listened to it non-stop during that first year. Going-to-the-Sun Road kills me every time.

For the regular version, the Portuguese part at the end is such a beautiful element to an otherwise amazing song. For the Live on Boston Harbor version, the genuine support from the crowd towards Uwade, her additional vocal performance, and the way it naturally flows over into Helplessness Blues make it one of the best songs of that entire concert. I am so happy that song is somehow a part of my life - pure magic

My mother had died less than two weeks before the album was released. The album was like a soothing balm for my soul... Sunblind and Jara kind of channeled some of my feelings about her.

6 years, I can’t believe how quickly time has flown!

This. Its nuts. Its still the 'new FF' album to me. But reading other folks comments has reminded me of how many people Ive lost since then and how much has changed.

On October 27th, it’ll be the longest gap between albums, passing the 6 years and 34 days between Helplessness Blues and Crack-Up !

This is a great fact! I had no idea :0

So now I am older, than the gap between helplessness blues and crack-up, now what does that say about me?

Honestly tho I was in college when the first two albums came out, and I remember thinking I’d never get to see fleet foxes perform when robin went back to college, and it felt like forever and a miracle to see the crack up show at the knockdown center. Happy to have seen a few more shows since then. And it feels like it’s been a flash since shore came out. I’m honestly shocked by this reveal!

I went for about a year there where I couldn't listen to this record because it made me cry too hard, from everything I had attached to it emotionally. I've been listening to it again since this summer, and it's just the best. Robin Pecknold knows what the tender part of a soul looks like.

A Long Way Past The Past = the song that’s always there for you exactly when you need it the most 🗓️

Unbelievable that it’s six years already. I adore this album

After the chaos and anxiety during Covid this album was such a salve

An all time favorite. I simultaneously can’t believe it’s been 6 years and also can’t believe it’s ONLY been six years. Feels like these songs have been with me a lot longer.

I dont understand how so much time has passed, but also be so compressed/repressed in memory. I feel like I'm still there in 2020, but that its also someone else's life, decades ago.

“May the last long year be forgiven.” A line I repeat often. ❤️

This album will always take me back to that difficult time. Beauty within the storm.

Ugh I would put on the visual video they made for this album and take the best naps with all the windows open. Need to do that again

When people talk about the last good music year, usually I dont feel that there has been a great year in a long time, but looking back on 2020, we had the following:

Fleet Foxes - Shore

Waxahatchee - Saint Cloud

Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher

Fiona Apple - Fetch the Bolt Cutters

Taylor Swift - Folklore & Evermore (Yes even if I dont love TS, those are solid albums)

I was at a rented cabin in the middle of nowhere when I first heard Folklore. Hearing Justin Vernon come in on "exile" was pretty incredible. I still listen to songs from punisher now.

also the "lonely solstice" performance that robin did in december

Happy Birthday Shore!

I too remember the day it came out. An absolutely transcendent album. Most days it's my favorite album. I remember the day my record arrived, i just stood in front of my record player in awe and watched it spin while i listened. I could hear more nuance and layer in the music from the vinyl and had my mind blown for a second time. I got to see the tour at the Majestic in Detroit. It was such a beautiful concert and the sound was so phenomenal i felt my eyes well up during Third of May. Often times i put the visualizer album from YouTube and appreciate nature scenes. Thank you Robin and Co. 🌿

My first album as a Fleet Foxes fan, and the first ever album I actually anticipated the release of. I was only a casual music listener before Shore. I’ve changed so much since then!

Have never stopped listening to Can I Believe You

Great album that is forever tied to my beach vacation when I really dove into the album.

The mixing on the album is still light years ahead of anything else I’ve ever heard. Genuinely the definition of lush.

It's been 6 years already?!

WTF!?

This album came out around the time I started a 6 year long-term relationship, which now has just ended around the same time. I don’t quite know what I feel, but I do have feels about it and will be listening to it on repeat and crying a lot probably.

love that album

6 years! Same amount of time between HB and crack-up

u/Diego_Delgado 25d ago

Theres a youtube video that plays through the album, start to finish. I used to wake up and put that on while having my coffee. This was my routine, every day, for years.

One of my favourite albums ever.

A bright, intense beacon of reasons to be alive.

Wow, I didn't even realize it was Shore's sixth bday today! I have already listened to the whole album and then the rest of FF's albums backwards from there. I needed that pick me up today 🙂

It’s easier for me to remember this one bc it came out on the first day of fall

Got me through Covid, this one

Wow, I’m lying awake at 4am and had a random urge to listen to this album for the first time in a couple years. Made me go looking for this sub and I find out its release anniversary was yesterday. I’ll take this as a sign to get back into them. Hope they tour soon 🤞

u/radiohead_s1 24d ago

I really wish they released some singles or something. Some snippets maybe. I am antsy for some new fleet foxes material 🦊

In the midst of my worst nervous breakdown at 27, Sunblind and Featherweight gave me hope.

the life I thought I would be building and nurturing forever began more or less with the release of this album. Six years on I'm picking up the pieces of that life that I will never have back and slowly trying to make something new.

Maybe the next album will see me through that process and what I build might last this time

I would GOAT Radiohead’s over shore.
