Who played Rhaenrya better?

I really liked Milly as Rhaenyra and I was a bit disappointed when there was the actress change. With time I started to appreciate Emma too, but imho she looks too different, not only physically, but also the way she acts... they look like completely different characters, which made the transition so hard to believe.
The transition from Emily Carey to Olivia Cooke as Alicent was much better imho.

I don't dislike Emma's performance, and I think the problems there are partially on the writers, but it's Milly every day of the week.

Here’s the thing about Emma - she’s absolutely involved in the writing process

Aww poor emma.
In her defense she seems like she could legit act but just has nothing to work with .
Matt smith seems to skate by on sheer presence.

The fact that I really only know him from Doctor Who before this and I can't even see the doctor at all when I watch HotD sells it for me. His presence and charisma on screen is amazing

Matt, Olivia, Ewan, Norton, Steve etc. Plenty of the actors are doing phenomenal with poor writing/directing. Emma is just really not that good.

Both were great, but we should have gotten book accurate Rhaenrya played by Jennifer Coolidge.

Millie should win- young Rhaenrya was a free spirit without the shackles of having to rule. Emma's character gets sidelined by children who don't listen (sure her fault as a mother), and odd plot gyrations dictated by the writers or source material.

Great actresses, costumes, sets, etc... all let down by absolutely awful writers/directors.

She can emote but she has no chemistry with any of the other actors.

tru, its hard to tell but it def feels that way. They have a lot of theatre types as well, some that just don't seem to work well on camera. The wacky pirate had a similar vibe—out of place, got lost on the wrong set or smth

Tired excuse. The terrible writing doesn't stop plenty of the other actors on the show from giving great performances.

Ah but there's the thing, they can write a good scene even if the 40mins around it sucked. Makes it infinitely funnier when every character they demonize as a rapist ends-up becoming an aura farmer by accident. If only the whole show was an accident, apparently it'd be gold.

Come on. Im Team Green. You cant disrespect Emma's outstanding acting like that. She has been absolutely phenomenal. Its not her fault her character is written badly in the show.

Emma has trouble playing Emma in real life. Her interviews seem so fake and off.

i don’t hate emma at all i think she was fine, but milly did such a great job portraying and young stubborn and temperamental rhaenyra that could feasibly grow up to be a reagent that makes genuinely evil decisions, and i wish the writers had let emma’s rhaenyra be more evil than she has been

Milly did the better job, but Emma was given eff all to use
No different than the actors in the Star Wars “trilogy” not being able to salvage that festering dumpster fire, imo

There’s not a definite right answer, they’re kind of interpreting them differently. I personally like Milly’s version of Rhaenyra better but by no means is it Emma’s acting that makes me say that. I think their acting is about equally is good. And may just be the writers that wanted Emma to play Rhae this way after the time jump

That’s not a fair question, since they were written as two completely different characters, and younger Rhaenyra was more likable as a character. Both actresses are good, it’s just that Emma had nothing to work with

It's genuinely not even close.
