applying to fsu

So I submitted my application a few days ago for early action and just wondering if I should be super worried
( I am applying to almost every school in Florida )
AA DEGREE
36/612 Students
4.34 weighted gpa
Part time job held from soph-senior year
100+ volunteer hours
The weak point SAT: 1160 retaking next Thursday
Major Mechanical Engineering

I’ve heard if you get your AA through dual enrollment they take a different path in admissions idk how that works so if anyone knows lmk

That SAT is really low for FSU tbh. Study hard for the next testing date and good luck!

He doesn’t have to list it with an AA, I didn’t even list my 1300 because i didn’t need to.

He’s going in as a first time freshman with an AA, not as a transfer. He does need his exam score. For engineering, he would need the prerequisites to be considered a transfer.

Were you coming straight out of high school ?

You should be applying other places no matter what. It would be silly to apply to one school and bank on getting in.

That said, your SAT is very low compared to the median and that is very likely to end up being a killer.

If you apply with your AA you apply as a junior and therefore its pretty guaranteed entry if your grades are average. No essays or SAT required either. Just apply and boom.

Hate to tell you but that SAT ain't gonna cut it. You need to get a substantially higher score to have a good chance.

You should get in with an AA, much higher chance of acceptance

Everyone should apply to multiple schools.

Your SAT doesn’t matter with an AA. Just an FYI you are not guaranteed entry into FSU because you got an AA. You are guaranteed entry into A state school…….not necessarily FSU

I was wondering how the system works , so since I’m graduating with my AA it’s off my college gpa not my sat and HS stats ? (3.7) gpa in college and all FSU engineering pre reqs done

Other programs like Chinese or Japanese have guranteed admission at that point. You just need to take 2 Chinese or Japanese classes at college and pass them. It also helps to apply during the summer, because less students are applying. I applied to FSU with a sub 3.0 overall gpa and 4.0 in Chinese and got in. I considered economics as a double major, but I think I’ll keep it as a minor. Yes I have an AA. Also be warned some programs are only offered in person and the housing and parking situation at FSU is awful and it gets worse every year. Many universities have this issue, but it’s been getting really bad. I took my first semester over the summer, and there was almost nobody on campus and it was easy to find parking. Now the situation is unbearable. I’ve missed the first day of class because I spent an entire hour looking for parking. I live off campus btw, so I have to drive.

That SAT will be a blocker for you. Engineering majors are aggressive and intensive tracks with heavy, advanced math and sciences. Be sure that is the right for you.

If you have an AA degree you will be fine. The SAT just won’t get you a lot of scholarship opportunities but the AA degree is golden. Congratulations on your success.

I applied with a low test score (26 or 28 ACT idk I can’t remember) and I got in for summer 2 years back. It really just depends. All of my other stats were super high though. Try your best and what’s meant for you will find you. Best of luck!

You SAT score is pretty low compared to others but so was mine. I took the ACT and had a lot of Aice credits, also I got in through care. If you really want to get in I suggest looking for the programs they have here, because they care less about sat
