Why does 5th gear feel wierd?

I have a 2013 frs and it’s the first and only manual car I’ve ever drivin but evey gear feels like butter exept 5th gear. The gear just feels crunchy and like it’s not supposed to do that but idk why. I have generic shop trans fluid that previous owner put in if that helps. Is this normal or am I doing smth wrong or maybe symcro is bad lmk pls

I had similar issues with 5th and 6th. Changed transmission fluid and gearbox fluid and after some number of miles, the issue completely went away. YMMV

I have this same issue w/4th and 5th. My mechanic says synchros

Try new gear box fluid.

I've had crunchy fifth come and go depending on fluid and age.

Currently on motul gear 300 75w90 and no issues.

Seems normal with age, got the same issue and I’ve used Motul and now Redline and my 5th is still crunchy, I’m guessing the synchros aren’t the best long term. When it gets really hot my 1st gear also has a hard time going in

My 5th gear is audibly crunchy on deceleration and apparently other people also have the problem. Idk what it is, but it seems like 5th being a little concerning is somewhat normal

I’m in an auto and 3rd gear lurches the whole car forwards
