And in 30 years we’ll be reading about how fucked up that child’s life was growing up. And the cycle rolls on.

Dude, men and women of any colour, age or gender can all manipulate, why make it a race thing?
And so you know, if I saw someone comment 'black woman tactics' I'd say the same thing to them.

correct, you said something stupid and ignorant that fuels your own bias. good job

The key difference is that Dopey has a foolish optimism, which you can see by how his eyes look all the way up as he tilts his head down. He also blinks in a slow, haphazard fashion.
Holmes, on the other hand, is a sociopath, and feels neither positive nor negative about her situation, thus she looks straigh-on, never tilting her head far enough to strain her eye muscles, and she never blinks.

I said the same thing to my wife when we watched it! All the closeups, I couldn’t not see it.

She still does that weird eye thing. I always change channels every time an ad of her documentary comes up on tv. Creepy af.

Man, she is the ultimate manipulator. The way she did things, pressured teams into competing for their jobs, lied over and over and over, changed her voice to be more persuasive, tried to blame it on her lover...
But people will never fucking learn.

the way she did things

Literally all big companies work like this 😂

u/Morden013 1h ago
Tell two teams that the one who is last to find a solution to impossible problem will get fired?
No, they don't. At least in Europe they don't. I worked for 2 big companies for years. Yeah, there was bullshittery, but not shit like that. Not openly, at least.

At least in Europe they don't.
Well, yeah. If there's a shady business practice at a large corporation, 9 times out of 10 it's an American one.

I work for a pretty large company, like 10k employees, and we don't do that.

Caught the documentary last night in the theaters.
I have never been more captivated during a documentary in my life. And that was 3 hours. Well worth it.

Good find. I thought her picture looked “clownish, in a cartoon way” but you’ve matched it up spot on.

I’ve been trying to figure out why her face looked so damn familiar. This is it. Lmao.

She looks like the coked up military officer O-ren Ishii assassinates in her cartoon backstory segment in Kill Bill.

Okay, it’s been two days, I have to ask.
Who is Elizabeth Holmes? There’s a documentary about her?

u/Legitimate-Log-6542 9h ago
2 days since what? She’s been talked about for some time. She’s worth looking up, can look up Theranos too

Have you tried typing this into google?
TLDR: She badly wanted to cosplay as female Steve Jobs in the medical tech industry, but didn't have the tech to do that, so she instead lied about the little bit of tech she possessed in order to get bigly rich

u/Substantial_Ad152 9h ago
Ordinarily I wouldn’t punch down like this, but she defrauded a people, took their money and messed with their medical information, so yeah I’ll compare her to a beloved but dumb cultural figure!

u/hairymonkeyinmyanus 8h ago
I don’t know why people are downvoting you. The world pays entirely too much attention to this sociopath.
1
u/Andrew1990M 5h ago
Most people take the “just Google it” approach. I’d rather hear it from a handful of people, engage with the community.
I got my answer, a handful of downvotes means literally nothing.

u/Superb-Control 3h ago
Then why not ask an engaging question and not who are they and is there a documentary? Both can easily be looked up. This just comes off as lazy to some.

She was a promising medical student who left college after a year or so I think it was, to start a tech company called Theranos.
The product was a machine which could supposedly do tests on a drop of your blood practically instantly… the IDEA of the product was a huge success, Henry Fucking Kissinger invested in it (may his grave forever be covered in the piss of the righteous) among many others… there were pharmacies getting refits to have a Theranos kiosk…
But it didn’t actually work. She was a lying liar who lied, the demonstrations were tricks, she was extremely unpleasant to work for and with, and she got convicted of wire fraud and frankly she got off easy.
Now go find the Behind The Bastards episodes on her

u/Wompatuckrule 9h ago
Short answer, a really interesting con artist.
I remember when she was at her peak "success" and there were clear voices from experts in the field saying that what she was touting as her company's groundbreaking product (which was always "just around the corner" from being released) was physically impossible.
However, she had dazzled so many important people and voices the story of that reality was drowned out by the huge publicity she was getting as the supposed "female Steve Jobs" of the biotech world.
Her downfall was from a great height and led to a prison sentence.
It might not be the sort of story you're interested in, but it is a very compelling one that is told well in that documentary.

Maybe if she changed sex to be a man. Reduced her height by 2 feet. Enlarged her ears and nose. Gave her weird eyebrows. Cut her hair and made her heavier. Then yes she looks like Dopey.

You're never getting out of her friend zone no matter how hard you try my guy.

u/pulsehead 8h ago
The saddest bit? If she worked 5ish years and invested in AI enough early enough, I’m saying Thera so would have been legit. That blood test, I want to work. Period. That when it happens will be a Nobel Prize in medicine level of discovery, imo.
