I will never get tired of posts when someone has just seen that episode and come in here with that reaction. LOL.
My husband had read the books when we watched the show, so he was watching me watch the show during that episode, waiting for my reaction.

Even those of us who read the books and knew what was supposed to happen kept thinking "They can't go there can they? Are they really going there?" They did leave out a very important outcome from the book but they did a good job

Side note I don't see mentioned enough because I'm currently reading the books. It was Arya, warged into Nymeria in her sleep that fished Cat's body out of the river. After which she came back to life as lady stone heart. Though I don't know how that last part happened yet. My guess is magic from the old gods

I haven’t gotten there yet either but so far there’s only one group that does resurrections and my moneys on that

Well that's not entirely true. Cold Hands was brought back and not by the Red Priests. Likely by the children of the forest, which is Old God magic.

In the books, Beric Dondarrion brought her back like he had been brought back by Thoros and in the books Beric dies in the process. Katlyn didn't come back 100% though with a huge neck wound. They called her Lady Stoneheart and she was out for vengeance

Naw, its a major deviation from the show, and is in part of spiral of why GRRM can't finish. The books started down a different path than the show from that point.

Oh, sweet summer child.
It’s okay. We all felt the same way (it was the first time I ever properly shouted at my TV 😂)

that episode was bad but for me I think season 5, episode 9, "The Dance of Dragons", was pretty bad as well

The red wedding episode? yeah that's the one that separates casual viewers from the ones who develop trust issues forever. i remember watching it live and my roommate walked in right as it ended and just found me staring at a black screen for like five minutes straight
what gets me is the music cue, the way the doors close, and then you just know something terrible is about to happen but you can't look away. the show really peaked with that level of dread
