You’re not alone, I don’t know why it bothers people on here. I mean obviously I KNOW those consoles are last gen, but the point is, that time has flown by so fast because of everything going on in the world, it feels like it wasn’t that long ago.
Plus, this gen of consoles has been about the most lackluster and forgettable I’ve ever seen, especially for the first several years when there was practically no reason to even bother upgrading.
Yeah, exactly. Maybe it's just because I was at the age where that was "my" generation of consoles, and the hype for the Xbox one/PS4 was massive. I still remember all of the reveal videos and huge blunders. When I think "next gen" I think of those.
Totally agreed, I remember the PS4 being a really big deal, same as pretty much every PlayStation before it. This is the first generation ever where it felt like most people’s reactions to a new console were, “ok, so?” lol. Hell, I STILL play way more on PS4 than PS5, and I don’t even see a reason to get an Xbox these days at all. But that’s just me. Most modern games (not counting GTA VI) don’t really grab my attention much at all.
Oh man definitely. We’re at the point of diminishing returns with graphics now where there’s not much further we can go, and it’s not enough of a difference to make a game enjoyable when EVERY game that comes out at least looks pretty decent.
I’ve been playing a lot of older games again lately as well, especially since I’ve figured out emulation on my iPad. I just started diving into the GameCube because that’s one console I never had when I was younger, and it’s got some great games on it.
And I was just looking at my PS2 and PS3 games the other day and realized how insane the libraries were for both. I’ve got like a hundred games between the two consoles probably, and for PS5, I still only have about 6 even after all this time (and two are remasters like you said)
