[Discuss] This is the weirdest shit I’ve read in awhile
Too much rapey sexual things in this shit man I’m only on chapter 29 but this little sexual shit that happens every chapter is so fucking wierd 😂 just wanted to say that but the story is pretty good but I don’t really like the MC getting rapey

You gotta improve your mental fortitude, my child. It's a product of its time. Unless if it's for a masturbatory essay regarding how morally right we are right now compared to back then, it's pointless to impose current moral standards on a work that predates such.

I did not say nor imply it was always an intelligent choice for the manga back then.

Saying "its a product of his time" doesnt kind of do that? Or what did you meant by It them?

Oh thank god you asked me properly. Thanks, really. I appreciate it. What I meant by "product of his time" was this:
Seinen manga back then in the 2000s was very unrestrained in what it was allowed to depict Oku Hiroya and some other mangakas enjoyed that much freedom to a tee. Take note that volume 11 with the shinjuku massacre chapter was released around 2003. It was that unrestrained.
There were no serious actions to the situation until 2010, when the Japanese Government passed the controversial Bill 156 amendment to the Youth Healthy Development Ordinance. This law aimed to restrict the sale and distribution of manga and anime depicting "substantially exaggerated" sexual or violent acts involving characters who look like minors.
After gantz, Hiroya Oku did Inuyashiki in 2013. It really was a breather against edgy stories. It actually depicted old men and fathers in a really good way.
He then did gigant in 2017, but through all that kinky sexual shyt, he never did depict blatant r4pe like what he did in gantz at all. Actually, kudos for him for actually depicting AV actresses in a humanizing way. Chiho has so much going on as a character.
And recently he did thunder 3. Which was a huge shift ngl.

So a current moral standard is not liking rape themes in something I’m reading? Are you fucking retarded?😂

Well, if you want to be shallow about it. I'm obviously referring to how it's genuinely not even taken seriously before. But your ad hominem is an expected reaction for someone with not enough mental fortitude.

Not really, i love the history but this pathetic excuses people do just to make It like IS more "profound" of what It really IS kills me. Most of the nudity on this series IS not necesary and some secondary characters are straight Up edgy caricatures. That being said, if you ignore that, i still liked It a lot ..

Didn't Oku said that he just likes to draw naked women? Also that "sex sells", nothing new under the earth

Honestly, I'm mixed in the comments here. Ive read the series about 4 times over several years. It's definitely sketchy in the first half of the series. But while the concept of over sexualization doesn't really go away, it definitely tones down a bit in the second half. Still a lot of nudity and gore tho.
On a separate note, I do think it's a great representation of just how shitty guys can really be when they think they can get something.

Even though it's really edgy at times I still found it peak. The MC by the end of the series becomes the goat

I get what you mean bro, but it's a product of its time and it's ALSO there to ask the morale of characters. Do they need to rape ppl to show how morally grey people are? No, not at all actually. But I do still think it's useful in bringing how twisted everything is.

Shorty alien arc is gonna make you love it because that is a stepping stone of Kurono's character development
