Gantz x Independence Day

I finished the manga this morning and this was all I could think of as I read the ending. The entire final arc felt like a tribute to “Independence Day,” which in turn felt like a tribute to “War Of the Worlds” by HG Wells

The final scene was inspired by the anime Zambot 3

But Oku Hiroya was truly inspired by Independence Day

Well shit

I knew the ending felt way too Hollywood for a dark manga like that.

Besides the giant’s mothership blowing up and their civilization being wiped out?
