Garfield, heathcliff absolutely had a fan base, but its well past being popular. Garfield has entered peanuts and scooby doo status where every generation insists on making the next generation aware it exists through new media. I liked heathcliff when the show aired in reruns but my pick will always be my lasagna eating pal.

We need the evil/dark path that leads to either Fritz the Cat or that 2016 Turkish adult animated film, Bad Cat

Both have their moments. I think I like Heathcliff a little bit more because they venture out more to other places. I feel with Garfield, the main setting you'll get is the house most of the time.

Was probably exposed to Heathcliff because of the 80s cartoon, but that’s where my connection more or less ends. Never got into the comic.
Garfield on the other hand has extended from comics to tv, so there’s more memories there.

I've heard of Garfield since day 1 of my life, never in my entire existence have I heard of Heathcliff. So I'm team garifeld

Garfield is more iconic and has more fun vintage items to collect… that being said… anyone here who hasn’t been keeping up with the current Heathcliff comics needs to check them out.
At some point it got really weird (in an intentional way) and it’s awesome.

Newspaper comics are generally lacking in surrealist humor, so I really appreciate Heathcliff for filling that niche.

Heathcliff, especially modern Heathcliff. I have nothing against Garfield but he’s got no edge.

After watching that documentary on Garfield fandom getting weird...
I kinda prefer Garfield. Heathcliff has kinda gotten hit in the head with a cow tool.

thats like asking "would you rather eat a buffet or the most stale piece of bread" even when yeah Garfield did became stale due to it no longer being funny, at least it has Jon Arbuckle

You're asking the Garfield sub to choose between it and Heathcliff...
