I've been doing well on Truvada.

I tried the pill form of PREP but had to stop because I had horrible nausea and constant vomiting. It can cause nausea in some people. My doc recommended looking into the shot form, so I am going to look into that.

Yes! PrEP is for everyone.

There are multiple kinds: a daily pill (Truvada or Descovy, but most places only offer the first one for trans men as Descovy was only studied on AMABs), an injection you get in your asscheek every 2 months (Apretude), and an injection you get in your thighs or belly every 6 months (Yeztugo).

If you go with the pills, it takes 3+ weeks to build up in your system, whereas the injections you only need to wait a week. I know in the US, the company that makes Yeztugo has a voucher system where they will cover the cost of it if you don't have insurance, but I don't know if they also do that in Canada.

I've tried all three methods and I'm currently on the 6-month injection. It's super easy and while it gave me an annoying side effect (a numb spot on one thigh), it's really helped me feel better/safer about having sex. It's 99.9% effective at preventing HIV.

Every sexually active person should be on it, period! I just started taking it myself. I will say, the first week has been rough cause sometimes a side effect can be fatigue. Though this might not happen for you 😅

Yes get on prep. In my country it's recommended to all trans people as well as gay men (though I believe it should be offered regardless of gender or sexuality)
