Just another birdhouse cache...

Designed and built this cache with my stepson (hes 10). Nothing to different from things I have seen before in other places, but our immediate area is in need of more fun caches that are a slight departur from the steadfast ammo cans, and this was a way to get him outside and maybe interested in a tiny that I've enjoyed for a long time. Made from pvc board to eliminate rotting. Gate latch activated by inserting a key card/gift card into the slot to unlock the front. I plan on sanding the front and repainting to keep it plain and inconspicuous. At most, ill paint a geocache logo on it to identify it.

Containers are a used "Tang" powder vessel, and a pill bottle that I plan on cleaning up for log sheet and swag.

This reminds me of how tired I am of the caches in my local area. Like 80% (several hundred) are from the same cacher and he almost always places micros. Usually they will have hard puzzles or something else that makes the find worth it but makes it less of the actual finding the cache part fun.

That doesn't sound too bad, better than living in an area with like 2 caches in 100km.

Be the change that you want to see, encourage others with interesting hides, high quality handmade containers, varied types, whatever you want to see.

Sadly cool handmade ones will be stolen.

I'm currently working on a more complex puzzle/gadget cache. But I don't know where I should put it. I don't really want people walking around in my yard to find it, but if I put it in the forest, it will be stolen.

Maybe I'll get premium then just to create a premium only cache, so hopefully it doesn't get stolen.

That's a bit strange IMO, so you live in an area where caching isn't super popular but any interesting looking cache will be stolen? But premium ones not being stolen implies it is people with caching accounts stealing them.

Geocaching isn't that uncommon here. We have a lot of them around. But it's a common thing why people make them premium in general, so they might not get stolen by others. An account is free so I guess some bored people download the app and search for some free ones just to steal them.

During the first event I visited a few weeks ago, a guy that hid a lot of caches and found 15k+ told me that the cooler ones are usually the premium ones, because the owners used handmade containers or more expensive parts than a 1€ box and don't want them to disappear.

I would love and hate to live within an area with 2 caches in 100km (62 miles). I would finally be able to place a geoart or a series and not have to worry about other caches being to close. Then again it would be incredibly difficult to find caches every day or even every weekend.

We have several tree climbing ones in 30+ meters height or fishing ones (where you need a gigantic telescopic stick to reach it up in a tree).

That's not really something I consider a nice geocache but some people really like them. I don't see the point in trying to hide them in such remote places. I don't want to have to learn how to do professional climbing just to find a cache. In my opinion caches should be findable by 80%+ of tge people out there. What's the point to create some that are impossible for most people to find?

Well to me that would seem fun but I would need the proper gear.

This is an awesome concept for a gadget cache. Reminds me of some I've found where you had to stick a pen or chopsticks into a hole to pull out the cache.

Never hurts to add the logo somewhere. I like seeing it in a ONE OF US! kind of way.

May the geocaching gods grant you many favorite points and watch over your family's cache!

I know we shouldn't care about FPs, but they are a nice, safe dopamine hit for any age!)

I don't speak Spanish, but according to Google translate, I think you're asking about the lock? I bought it at Harbor Freight, but it's a simple gate latch that you find at just about any hardware store or big box store. I have to take my angle grinder and cut a little bit of it off to make it fit without touching the inside of the roof..... I hope that translates easy enough without confusion.
