Streaking

I am 164 days into my current streak (yay!) and have begun weighing the benefits of how long to continue. There is a challenge cache near me which requires that your longest streak be longer than your longest slump, so I need at least 327 days for that. At that point, I'm obviously going to keep going until at least 366 days so I have a full year. In my reading about various challenge caches, I saw that there are plenty of requirements for 365/366 days, some 500 days, and at least one for 1095 days (GC2YVG8).

Is anyone aware of any challenges that require you to have more than a 3 year streak? If I manage to make it that long, I want to make sure I fulfill everything I possibly can.

Not helpful for your question, but when I tackled my streak (400 days), I was living in a location where I could really only travel west (coastal) to find new caches. Also, gas was up over $4/gallon for our area.

I worked until about 10pm most nights, so I would find 2 park n grabs right near each other, then drive an hour or so to get to their location, then wait until before midnight to find one, and after midnight to find the other. Technically different days, with one drive.

entirely unrelated but my phone is in spanish and autotranslates titles. before i clicked to put it back in english, i was wondering why there was a post in the geocaching sub called “desnudarse en público…” a different kind of streak.

I’ll be honest. It was my first thought without translation.

99 days was good enough for me for a challenge. There’s no way I could pull this off now as I’d end up travelling quite the distance for a find at some point

New challenges are only allowed to require 365 days streak. So the only challenges with longer streak than 365 days are old grandfathered challenges. I think it's possible to search for streak challenges on project-gc website.

Right now, the guidelines limit “streak” challenge caches to 365 days. However there are caches that existed before the guidelines changed and are grandfathered in with longer number of days required to fulfill the challenge. You can search for them on Project GC. One cached in my area currently has a 13 year streak going! Good luck!

There's a 1,000 day challenge near me. That 1,095 day challenge you mentioned is now the longest I've seen.

It's the longest one that exists

There is no challenge cache longer than 3 years.

It blew my mind when I saw a 365 days straight challenge. Best I've done is 6-7 days. I can't ever imagine doing a whole year. I get sick way too often and have responsibilty heavy days where there is no way I can go caching without stealing sleep hours or smth like that. Whoevers done it just wow, that is an amazing achievement.

What is the GC code for the one you mentioned? That exact challenge is what got me started. My slump was 270 days. When I got to 271, I figured why not go for 366. When I got to 366, I figured why not 500. I am at 494 as of yesterday. Today I will drive 32 miles each way to get the nearest unfound cache. At this point, it is becoming a chore, but the goal is in sight! But then... I saw
a challenge that requires a find on every calendar day of any given year. So, I am contemplating continuing until 31 December. Somebody slap me!

wow i went through a several year period where i didn't cache, i don't even know why, so this would be a huge uphill climb for me. but good luck!

When I started geocaching, there was huge amount of caches nearby. That made me easy to keep going on every day. Got more than 500. Today that would be nightmare to accomplish.
