I’ve seen enough of these to know he fucked it up and throws his pencil and protractor at the end

It works because the lines measure the pipe radius, hence he can make the perfect cut.

It will work 100% of the times, all the lines he is making is helper lines to measure the radius.

Finding the radius of the pillar using construction. It might not look intuitive but it is mathematically correct way of finding the radius.
