Question please logout to view the changes in your code
So I'm vibe coding this extension that not only correctly apply light mode on gnome but allow me to customize each color. The dark mode tab doesn't have colors as its set to default and on default it will just use all gnome colors as it's already everything black except the "top bar" color that I have set to #36363a so it matches the quick setting color.
Anyway, everytime I need to update this extension to see the changes I have to logout of my computer, and this is SO annoying to do this everytime, like everything closes when I do it.
Is there a way to update the extensions without having to logout everytime?

All my brain registered was the wallpaper and it said “how is he launching the gnome desktop on macOS with dbus, wtf is this” then I realized the desktop IS gnome and not macOS.
Gnome doesn’t look like macOS, until you throw a macOS wallpaper on it. 😆

It’s more just glancing at a screenshot, it’s your brain filing in the blanks. The icons are similarly themed, the shell even has the Finder look. It passes at a glance, but all that ends when a window gets opened. Apps generally look nothing like gnome counterparts. Though Apple has changed the settings app in recent years, but even there the layout resembles kde more than gnome.
Sadly, 2026 macOS looks terrible and I much prefer almost anything else at this point.

It basically starts GNOME from scratch in a new window, like a virtual machine, but just for the desktop, to preview your changes. So your updated extension will apply there, and once you've tested and developed it enough to be ready, you can then do a final logout and back in to apply it to your main desktop.

Yes, you would run Ctrl + C in your terminal and then run the command again (Up arrow key, then Enter) every time you make a change.
