Why is connecting via usb to access files so unreliable?
Half the time the MTP drive doesn't show up. And even when it does it'll say there's no files a lot of the time.

Went to Goodwill the other day and founds this, idk if it’s real or just a sticker. I have found nothing on it yet. What do you think?

I'm absolutely lost on what is going wrong and would really appreciate some help.
I had my hero 4 connected to my phone, streaming etc. Then I had an SD error. So I took it out, reformatted on the PC, put it back in and reformatted it on the camera and did a full defaults and wifi reset. (I just pulled it out of a closet from years ago so I figured just full reset it anyway).
I go to reconnect it to the app. The process goes fine, I get to the code, put it in on my phone, and get to the screen where you put in a cam name and a password and I can't get past this. Every time it just says an error has occurred when trying to save these setting. Has anyone had this issue?

I have already tried restarting the app, fully resting the camera, and forgetting the camera device on my phone. I'm absolutely lost and can't find a similar issue online. Thanks in advance for any help. I'm on the verge of seeing just how durable this action cam really is...
EDIT:
Okay, update for posterity:
I got it working after like 2 hours of fiddling.
The only thing that seemed to change my outcome was the advice in this video.
Basically all I had to do was create a blank .txt file on the SD card named "Factory_reset". I guess this triggers the cam to do a high level reset next time you turn it on. After that, the thing connected right away. Hope this helps anyone going through the same woes.

Has anyone had any issues with record speeds? I filmed one hour of footage and the files were only ~15GB total. I'm recording Open Gate with max bitrate. 24fps 4k. If the camera films ~200Mbps shouldn't the files be closer to 100GB in size?

Heyy,
I recently got gifted a GoPro by my boyfriend. As someone who has never owned like a professional camera before (I do have a digicam but that's only used for fun insta photo dumps yk), I wanted to know some beginner levels essential accessories and setting tips.
My main use case would be filming family/travel vlogs (for memories) and clicking photos as well (I do have an iPhone 15 plus, so GoPro won't be my sole photo clicking device).
Also, I wanted some advice for the bluetooth mic situation (I have AirPods 4 the basic ones, is that good enough or should I buy like a pocket friendly mic)
Lemme know if the premium is worth it for Rs. 6.3k~ without the camera replacement service (since they don't have that option in India)
I'm working on a gyro-based application and I'm hoping to find some timing info.
Does anyone know of documentation or measurements covering the precise timing relationships between HERO13 (or older GoPro Hero) video frames, sensor exposure and gyro metadata?
My main config right now is 4K Wide, 29.97 fps, HyperSmooth off, with ERS bypassed through GoPro Labs.
I'm looking for:
Row timing: What is the interval between consecutive sensor rows starting exposure (in µs/row) ? Is it uniform? How do SROT, scan direction and cropping/scaling map this to recorded image rows?
Frame reference: What physical event does CORI timing represent? (exposure start, midpoint, readout, etc) How does it relate to MP4 frame timestamps?
Gyro timing: How does STMP relate to actual gyro sampling? Are there known buffering or filtering delays?
Exposure timing: Is SHUT the actual integration duration, and which frame does each entry apply to? When shutter speed changes, how do exposure start/end move relative to frame timing?
Also... are those offsets between actual exposure/gyro sampling and their timestamps fixed, or do they change with recording mode or shutter speed?
Any help finding measurements, sensor/firmware documentation or published calibration results would be really appreciated.

Been clipping my GoPro to my backpack strap with a Telesin clip. I didn’t want another harness over my hiking gear, and I like having the camera a bit higher up.
No problems on walks so far. Haven’t tried it on rougher trails yet though. Does yours stay put, or do you end up adjusting it along the way?

Hoping to see some samples and get some people's thoughts on that pairing.

Hi All,
I have noticed that my USB port on my Misson 1 Pro ILS has gotten very loose, very quickly. My setup is a custom printed case for the M1P to mount to my tripod and provide a USB passthrough (with support for torque on the cable) to a USB hub where I have a microphone and HDMI display plugged in. It worked great for probably 10-12 shoots then started getting flaky. situations where the microphone would work but HDMI wouldn't detect, plugging the display directly into the M1P via displayport/USBc mostly works but again, lots of play in the cable.
Anyone else had problems with the resiliency of the USB plug?

Glued a sponge to the mic. I tried it while riding my bicycle through the streets, but I wasn't going fast as per usual in downhill, so I cant really tell if it's working. Have you ever tried this method, or what are your thoughts on it?

I'm so frustrated with my GoPro experience. After sending back a Mission 1 to upgrade to a PRO, a incredibly painful experience with their customer service (still haven't been refunded) - I received the PRO this morning.
I checked the list of recommended cards and purchased the SanDisk Extreme Pro Micro SDXC 256gb A2 V30.
Turning on the camera for the first time, you're asked to update the firmware. Unfortunately I get stuck on one of the first set up screens where it says "try a different SD card". I don't have another fast card to test, and this is a GoPro recommended card.
Has anyone else had this? What do I do? Buy another card or is the Mission 1 Pro faulty?
I'd rather not deal with customer services - quite possibly the worst customer experience I've had with any product.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to diagnose a wireless connectivity issue with my GoPro HERO6 Black and would appreciate help from anyone familiar with its hardware or firmware.
I've been examining the firmware file (DATA.bin) and found an embedded Linux filesystem containing Wi-Fi-related scripts and configuration files, including:
wifi-load.shwifi-sta.shwifi-ap.shwifi.confqcom_cfg.iniwlan_mac.binwifi_bdata.binI also found references to connman.service and wpa-supplicant.
The camera reports a Wi-Fi MAC address, but I haven't confirmed whether the wireless hardware is detected or initialized correctly.
wifi_bdata.bin cause both wireless functions to fail?I'm willing to investigate the firmware at a deeper level, but I don't want to flash modified files without understanding the cause and risking a bricked camera.
Any technical advice, diagnostic steps, or documentation would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I Need a cage or preferably a protective case where the brackets are flipped so I can get upright footage without flipping the footage after it’s taken.
Thank you to all who reply!

I did the firmware update yesterday and my GoPro Mission 1 Pro updated perfectly but my Volta 2 kept failing the update the process. I wrote to GoPro and now I need to return the bricked Volta 2 back to them at my own cost. Which I think is utterly unfair.
Update. I let the Volta 2 completely drain. Then recharged it to 100%. Then tried the firmware update again and it worked.
FYI The battery was at 90% when I first tried to do the update.

I’ve bee having this issue today with two micro SD cards that are both A2 and V30 256GB which have both been used before.
For some reason today neither of them have been read by the camera and this message keeps popping up.
I formatted them both as ExFast on my Mac and still nothing. I can’t update the camera without an SD card and already factory reset it. Still nothing.
Has anyone gone through something similar? Any advice or suggestions?

\* Warning: Loud*\** Outdoors..."1" is GoPro Mic to Hero 13 via Bluetooth Classic (lowest quality mode). "2" is best GoPro Wireless Mic mode into Hero 13 via TRS to Media Mod. Just one channel for each. Sometimes the EZ low quality BT mode is useable, it's not all bad-flip-phone tinny? "2" is better, and allows stereo but is not as simple and ready to go as “1” (Mission has the superior superwideband mode, but still only one channel for that). You can also mix in or use the in-camera sound recorded at the same time via PC/Mac type pro editor such as FCP, Resolve, Premiere.
I had Resolve Studio auto match the levels to the extent that it could with one button press...since BT Classic records *much* quieter than the transmitter-receiver mode does. Even with -12db on the receiver's knob it was still louder from "2" than from "1". Hence i had Resolve help out there.
For the best actual comparisons you want to level match the two even closer than was done here. Something like 0.1dB. This can he hard to do if things like sound (not file) compression is involved, peak limiting etc. Our ears tend to favor the louder option, you see. With just one mic channel in use, the levels come out louder in one of the two channels in the "2" track, whereas for "1" (BT Classic) the L/R balance is dead even as in dual mono. Suggest good mic placement (do trials if important), and avoid the NR modes. THOSE can sound tinny / Mr Roboto at times.

Hi, my GoPro screen got detached on one side. I'm not sure how it happened but the camera and the screen is working fine. I guess it seems like a sealing problem and I don't want to do anything myself because in case if anything is not perfect then I might end up damaging the entire camera especially using in water. Please advise.

I'd probably never pay the full price for it but since I'm a subscriber it doesn't seem like a terrible deal, wanted to know what y'all think!

TL:DR does anyone know what I can do to receive some help from actual GoPro, instead of their third party customer service provider. They have not been able to help me, and the whole thing has cost me dozens of hours and tons of wasted energy. Shipping problems that they can't seem to communicate until theyve waited for UPS to hold and return the package to them, taking weeks to circle back to another attempt, just to run into the same nameless issue and no reasonable amount of attention to the problem.
If not, who do I escalate this to, to help others from having to go through this in the future? BBB?
Here's the synopsized recount of events:
Signed up for a subscription about 6 months ago. Had a hero 9 that experienced water damage. Went for the "No questions asked replacement".
Got the rma, it has my email tag instead of my name on it, asked them to fix that, sent them the camera. Now for context I live in hawaii, and don't have my own residential mailbox. So their first attempt to mail it to me, it gets held in Hawaii at ups because general delivery isn't acceptable for them.....should have stated that looooong before they ever shipped it. So it's sitting at ups for over a week and I can't get customer service to respond or take any action(like giving ups the go ahead to let me pick it up from them). It returns to gopro. They ask for a different address. I give them a friend's address that receives packages all the time. Weeks later sent again. Again sits in ups in hawaii, claims "incomplete" address(did they leave out the c/o?). Again customer service will not respond. I attempt to escalate and ask for someone with the authority to assist me. Get transferred to a named representative who sends me an incorrect tracking number, then an incomplete tracking number. Then incorrectly tells me it's on its way to me, while it's actually on its way back to them. Attempt to escalate further. Told I will receive a call. No call. I get busy with life and can't do this back and forth for awhile.
Try again to get them to handle my case with someone other than the third party (probably) below minimum wage workers that do nothing more than regurgitate a script. Start putting my foot down about allowing them to keep sending this camera back and forth over the ocean without giving me some assurances first. Get nowhere with them. Life gets busy again, still waiting for them to forward me to a real person with the actual ability to support with my unique scenario. Last weekend decide to give them another shot at mailing it to me without giving me the assurances I want beforehand....now they've got me on hold in a que for 3 more business days.
What are my options here? I would rather not submit for a refund due to services unrendered, but if that's my only option it still doesn't cover the damaged camera I sent them.
Any help is greatly appreciated 🤙

Really loving this camera so far
