Happy to see the Calvin and Hobbes anthology getting a place of honor.

That orange box gives itself away as soon as you open the photo 😁

Agreed, just packed up my set for a move. Always great to see a perennial favorite on display.

Calvin and Hobbes and the Far Side anthologies are both totally worth owning.

You know it I got the Far Side compendiums for my father as a birthday gift several years ago. It was always one of his favorites when it was actively circulating.

You have great taste! Also, I see Prison Pit and I automatically upload!

I’m currently reading Death Note, and I’m totally hooked. Is there something similar to it, that you have read and would recommend?

Oh my god Death Note is definitely my favorite manga. I recently started reading Platinum End, hoping it would be similar, and while there are a lot of similarities (supernatural beings attaching themselves to humans, crazy intricate arbitrary rules for how the magic works, a cat and mouse game) it’s just not nearly as good.

While it’s not really similar at all, I would recommend The Flowers of Evil. Really good coming-of-age, dark teen angst.

Thanks! I’m not into coming of age or slice of life stories. What I’m loving about Death Note are the constant twists and the investigative part.

Maybe check out Platinum End, you might like it

Nice. Is that what a complete collection of Junji Ito looks like? What’s your favorite by him btw?

I think my favorite that I’ve read so far is Black Paradox. Uzumaki is a close 2nd.

Muppet Babies for the win!

Now this is a shelfie I can get behind! I love seeing shelves with almost no marvel or DC.

Did you like Sex Criminals? It was fun enough but I don’t think they stuck the landing.

Haven’t read that one yet! Was excited to see that Kumail Nanjiani and his wife are adapting it to a tv show, so I’ve been waiting for that to get closer.

Pick up some books by Paul Pope, you won't regret it. Great collection!

Nice! What are your favorites?

Kind of basic choices but I gotta go with Death Note and Saga

How are Nailbitter and Hack/Slash?

2

u/A_UPRIGHT_BASS 2d ago

I looooved Nailbiter. Hack/Slash is a bit inconsistent. Some stories were great, some not as great. Good variety, but not that strong of a through-line.

1

u/Santacruiser 2d ago

Awesome. Might have to pick up Nailbitter then.

I love how Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side get their own shelves.
