Crime/Mystery Mandatory Fall/Winter reading
Friday by Ed Brubaker. A supernatural mystery based in the quiet town of Kings Hill, New England. A haunting coming of age tale perfect for readers who want a mix of mystery with beautifully drawn winter landscapes.

The Fade Out is a good chaser for this next month with Noirvember! Also some good news, Sean Phillips at nycc told me he has just started work on the fade out sequel with Ed.

The Fade Out is already on the way. Imma dive into it as soon as I get my hands on it.

I was at NYCC and got some stuff signed by Sean, but blanked on actually talking with him. Shame bc he's my favorite artist and this was his first US convention appearance in 7 years. I thought their next book after unfinished tales would be a companion piece to The Fade Out

Youâre right. I typed the wrong F title and corrected it. Thank you for that. He said the next book is the sequel/companion to the fade out. My bad!! He was very nice. I hope he regularly comes back to US shows so more people can see him

Brubaker at its finest. Plus the art transforms you into that winter mood whenever you read it.

Is it finished? Is this the complete story I mean.

Yes, this is the whole story. Would not suprise me if they did a sequel to it sometime in the future though.

I remember reading this online when it started! I'm so glad it is finished, this will go right to the top of my holiday wish list!

Loved this story. Was a huge John Bellairs fan growing up, it was really heartwarming to see that Ed Brubaker was too.

This book convinced me I needed a Halloween section at home. The vibe is pure Halloween TV special from the 90s and it's amazing.Â

Will make note! Some I like for the holiday season, if you donât mind me adding some recommendations to your post, but âKlausâ was super fun. I love âJingle Belleâ by Paul Dini. I call her the âHoliday Harley Quinnâ. Then of course âThe Deviantâ and âHappy!â I also love the Moomins! đđ

I enjoyed this as I do all of Brubakerâs writing.
As someone who read teen/child detective books ages ago itâs fun to revisit that world with a bit more grown up perspective

Totally agree with this. The first book completely hooked me and then after that it goes off the rails.
