Collection / Shelfie / Haul nice little haul

Post image

Some rarities I've been after for a while! 2001 Nights, Seraphim and Opus.
Still looking for Planetes Vol 2 in the old paperback format.

Solitary Gourmet is a wonderful read.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for more hard sci-fi like 2001 Nights or Seraphim?

Or anything else with the pace and grace of Jiro Taniguchi?

Upgrade Soul is genuinely so good. If anyone reading this who’s into sci-fi and hasn’t given this a read…do it.

I read it digitally in the comixology days and had no idea the physical book was so big! I might have to track down a copy...

Also read it digitally like 2 years ago and the collectors edition I got was $3.50 at the time and now they’re around $20. If you find one definitely snag it because it’s a beautiful shelf piece.

I've got a copy in my tbr pile. I'm not a gigantic sci fi head so just having a mental block about it and the illustrations a bit...scrappy? That's the best way I can explain myself. I've got the soundtrack to accompany it and fully try to get around to this given the praise

I get it, it’s not the prettiest art but I think it’s a very intriguing story that makes up for it. It’s not sci-fi like Star Wars so I think it’s a good starting point for someone not super into the genre.

Just finished Little Bird. Great read.

Precious Metal is genuinely just as incredible if not more(as it stands on the shoulders of Little Bird).

Planetes is a great read! I have the same omnibus (discontinued edition) and now desperately looking for volume 2, but can’t find any… I may have to purchase the newest deluxe edition.

The solitary gourmet is (again) a great book. Not just for comics/manga lovers, but also for foodies.

A friend loves Japanese food, has been to Japan a few times but lives in an area without any Japanese restaurant. I send him a few screenshots and he has now ordered his first Manga comic book.

I'd completely forgotten about 2001 Nights! I read that 25ish years ago and remember it being really cool. Hope it holds up for you!

20th Century Boys by Urasawa is my favorite. I wouldn’t say it’s hard sci-fi but it’s not too far off.

Pluto and Asadora by him are really good also.

So great to see 2001 Nights! I have the Viz Comics ten issue edition on my shelf right now and I re-read them every few years.
