Action/Adventure Bouncer by Jodorowksy and Boucq

Just finished Bouncer by Jodorowksy and Boucq and this was quite the treat in both art and story! It's a gritty collection of Western stories all focused around the one armed gunslinger and saloon bouncer named Bouncer. It takes place in the lawless and cruel Barro City, a post-American Civil War town in the Wild West.

Bouq's gorgeous art adds so much to the gritty feeling of this story of familial vengeance, the cruelty of the wild west, post-Civil War tensions, greed and even our titular gunslinger's multiple searches for love. There's also some humor added in between the cruelty with no shortage of absurd characters. As a side note it's a very high quality and nice looking hardcover edition.

Since I had an absolute blast with this gritty Western series are there any other comics in the same vein I should check out?

Definitely one of my favorite Western graphic novels. Nice edition too!

Another French style in a similar vibe, you could also try “Blueberry” (by Moebius, mostly known for The Incal). More recent, "Undertaker” is pretty popular (by Dorison, another famous French author). Not sure if they’ve been translated, you could also try “Comanche” and “Durango”.

Excellent recommendations, exactly what I would've said. I read and liked them all. I would add "Marshall Bass" from Macan/Kordey to the list too. Also, not sure if it's translated, but worth a look for all fans of that vibe.

So cool. Since I'm from Croatia, we're kinda spoiled here of having work from Croatian writers/artists easily availlable. Texas Kid is a truly memorable meta twist on the genre. Thanks for supporting the authors! 🙏👏🫶

They did print an English edition, but not very many I think. I looked for it just after it released and could not find a copy anywhere. I would really like a copy, have heard they may be reprinting!

Correct, I believe that’s because volume 8 onward move to Glénat editions.

Amazing art- I have the first volume - but still waiting for the second volume to be translated.

I do not understand why more French books are not translated, there is certainly a market for these beautiful books.

I usually find Jodorowsky kinda tedious, but he never misses with the artist he works with.

Thanks for sharing. Looks super cool. I’m reading through Stephens kings dark tower gunslinger beginnings omnibus. Interesting seeing the graphic novel adaptation. Cheers 🍻

I'd say no. It's very violent and deals with adult themes
