Discussion Cinder Block

I miss when Cinder Block made merchandise for the other bands from that time including Green Day. I hate how they went out of business..

The T-shirts were really good quality as I remember. They weren't ever "in business" I don't think. Cinder told me it was a volunteer run co-op. Don't think they ever made any $$.

Cinder ran it during the height of the Tilt days. When Tilt was on tour (which was all the time) it was run by volunteers. A lot of stuff in Berkeley was run like that back then. I interviewed her at some point in the late 90s for my zine. She talked a lot about the screen pressing operation.

What did she say about the screen press operation?

That is was all volunteer run by the Berkeley squatter kids. They did all the shirts and stickers for most of the Gilman bands, and I they worked with Larry from Lookout Records as well I think, Tilt was signed to Lookout at that time, so that made sense.
