What Pistol with Decocker for IWB Holster?

I'm looking for a pistol to use with an IWB holster, so I'd prefer something compact rather than a full sized behemoth. For safety reasons, a decocker is a must for me.

I've already handled the following pistols, but neither was a good fit for me:

  • CZ P-07: The slide release was difficult for me to reach.
  • Beretta 92FS Compact: I couldn't get a secure grip on the pistol, and reaching the magazine release was awkward.

Control wise the Walther PDP hunter pro would be a great fit but no decocker since striker fired.

The possibility of mounting a red dot would be a plus but not a must

Thank you in Advance

I love my HK P30sk

I just bought this last month for my CCL. I got the model with a manual safety too.

I have the V3, no manual safety. The double action trigger pull is about 8 lbs and a mile long though, so I don’t feel it’s necessary for me. I absolutely love the way that thing shoots. Funny story though, I ordered one with the safety and they sent the wrong one without it, but it worked out perfect, I’m glad I got the one I got. I do like a good manual safety though, I have an Sig P365 .380 pocket pistol with one, I love that gun.

I hear ya- it's all about personal preference.

I plan to send mine to Langdon Tactical to have a trigger job and optic slide milled.

I also have the P365 9mm for my "summer carry".

USP compact variant 1 has a Decocker, suggest trying one out as well.

Came here to suggest this as well. It's my daily carry

Berreta PX4. I believe they have a compact and sub compact option. I haven’t used one.

How can I see if it has the decocker? The shops only list F type safety

u/The_Music_Director 12h ago

The type F is a safety and decocker. Flip down once to decock it and put on safety, then flip back up and it stays decocked but is ready to fire.

Also super easy to convert to Decocker only.

Compact carry version is decocker only

Subcompact doesn't have the rotating barrel so it isn't worth buying

No mention of the P-01? That's the one I want. Soon...soon.

1

u/kappi1997 11h ago

On the images it looks quite chunky or does it just look like that

3

u/elpokonino 11h ago

Feels great, about the same size as a glock 19 but doesn't feel like holding a Lego (said by a guy who EDC's a glock 19).

Id also recommend the sig p229 series. I would carry my p229 over my PO1, and did for about 5 years. A good IWB holster makes all the difference.

Of all the words I could use to describe the P-01, chunky is definitely not one of them.

Px4 compact carry

CZ really owns this game for this type of pistol. Pick any of their lineup and you’ll have a good rig. You can also just carry strong side and negate the risk all together lol. Strong side and appendix will be pretty close to the same speed and your amount of practice will limit you more than the position you carry.

If you're OK with 380, the beretta 80x is an option. I don't own one and can't speak to it's reliability. I have a Walther pd380 and it has a decocker. It's been reliable for me, but everyone else who has fired mine has had malfunctions.

1

u/Level_Reveal7624 12h ago

You can also get surplus 84s for around $300

1

u/kappi1997 12h ago

Honestly I wnt a new one to make sure it works reliable for as long as possible. It is not like money isn't a limit but since it will not be a collector piece I will go new or like new

u/kappi1997 13h ago

I mean 9mm is preferred but I will put it on the list to look for in a store to take it into my hands. It looks similar to the 92fs compact but I will give it a try

1

u/HaydenMackay 12h ago

Similar. But smaller in every direction. And a completely different safety, frame mounted rather than slider mounted

P2000SK if you can find one...they've been discontinued for almost a year maybe.

1

u/kappi1997 13h ago

Not so sure if I should go with a discontinued gun due to spare part availability

2

u/parkshootsslowly 12h ago

P229 or p30/p30sk >>

Walther P99

5

u/Agent_1812 13h ago

IWB and decocker in one sentence. LOL

7

u/kappi1997 13h ago

I had to hold back not to make a joke about ut yes 😜.

I want a decocker so the gun doesn't decock me

1

u/LifeAdhesiveness8071 13h ago

How about a CZ Nocturne?

1

u/kappi1997 12h ago

It looks like the nocturne has a bigger slide release then the normal p07/ p09 I'll give it a try

1

u/Greenm6645 13h ago

HK p30 series, Beretta PX4, CZ P01 and P09c Nocturne.

1

u/Past_Service_6283 12h ago

It’s a bit bigger than some other options but I wouldn’t forget abt the p229 my dad has had one iwb for the last 20 years now

If you want a cheap pistol in a p-07 size you could just pick up a S&W 915 or 910 they are actually really light weight being aluminum and have a decocker at 4 inches they decently compact

But honestly for what you are looking for you should look a little harder at striker fired

I love DA/SA but a striker fired is superior for that use case. It’s like choosing between an Hybrid and a gas car with auto stop start and brake hold

I like DA SA for idpa, shooting at the range etc but a striker fired is much more ideal for IWB

Having a decocker, hammer, etc is a huge negative for

2

u/kappi1997 11h ago

I get that having a decocked gun makes you slower in the pull but I wouldn't feel save with one in the chamber and the stricker ready. So my options are empty chamber or decocked

1

u/aceofspades1217 11h ago

There is plenty of stiker fired guns with slide safeties like my Taurus gc3

1

u/kappi1997 11h ago

MöI mean honestly I don't see how I'm faster having to remove a safety then haven a DA trigger

1

u/aceofspades1217 10h ago

That’s true just saying even with a striker you don’t need to carry unloaded

But yeah your best bet is a DA SA that has a hidden hammer

1

u/SLW_STDY_SQZ 11h ago

3rd gen SW 69* models might fit the bill too. I carry one sometimes.

1

u/aceofspades1217 11h ago

Yeah the 6906 is the aluminum version

915 and the 6906 are basically the same except the 6906 has a ambidextrous safety and Novak style sights

1

u/Ronthe1 12h ago

sig p229, hk p30sk, Beretta px4 compact belive the G is decoder only

1

u/SLW_STDY_SQZ 11h ago

Look at Bersa TPR9C. I hear they're chunky tho.

1

u/kappi1997 11h ago

By the name kinda expected a turkish brand but it is from argentinia. Never heard of them but will look for one to get a touch and feel

1

u/OforFsSake 11h ago

Sig P229 would be my 1st choice

1

u/cr4sh_0v3rr1d3 11h ago

I would consider Sig P229 or SP2022 to fit within your parameters.

1

u/Public_Narwhal4748 6h ago

P99 has a better single action than the pdp.

Canik stole the walther trigger.

P99 is the best da/sa deco clef to never get long term love.

1

u/Seldon14 4h ago

If you otherwise like the P07 just got with that. The slide stop lever is superfluous. Just sling shot to drop the slide.

1

u/BestAdamEver 2h ago

PX4 compact.

What is the difference between a DA pistol that was cocked and then decocked and a striker fired pistol that was never fully cocked in the first place, other than the manual placebo?

1

u/kappi1997 13h ago

I'm not sure if I fully understand your statement. You mean a DA only striker fired pistole? I mean a glock for example is SA only as far as I understand.

I'm okey with a striker if the trigger pull is the same as with a decocked hammer fired

1

u/pestilence 14 | The only good mod 9h ago

I mean most striker fired handguns, including Glocks, are not normally fully cocked until you complete pulling the trigger, just like a DA pistol. So, just like a DA pistol, the only way to make it go bang is to pull the trigger.

1

u/kappi1997 9h ago

Last striker fired gun I shot was a glock 21 and the trigger weight is around the same as on my cz75 p09 when the hammer is cocked.

So are you saying modern striker pistols have a similar trigger weight as a decocked hammer fired gun?

-1

u/pestilence 14 | The only good mod 9h ago

No. If you want to know what I'm saying, you can read my words. Why are you so concerned with trigger pull weight? Do you plan to shove your hand into your holster and diddle the trigger when you're bored?

3

u/kappi1997 9h ago

Not really no. As I said I'm not judging people if they feel safe carying like that. I just don't and knowing that it at least takes quite a bit of force to set the trigger of makes me feel more safe

-1

u/FiresprayClass Services His Majesty 9h ago

I mean a glock for example is SA only as far as I understand.

How is that your understanding in the Year of Our Lord Two Thousand and Twenty Six? Have you deliberately avoided even the most basic understanding of modern handguns on purpose? The supermajority of striker fired handguns available today are, like Glock, partially preset strikers, meaning they are from a safety perspective acting like they are double action with a somewhat shorter and lighter trigger pull, not like a single action. Add the trigger safety and firing pin block and it's difficult to see why exactly you think they are some unacceptable danger.

3

u/kappi1997 9h ago

I'm not saying it is unnacceptable unsafe I just don't feel safe with a Trigger that goes as light as your average striker or cocked hammer.

I know there is a trigger safety but I still don't feel safe and in the end everyone needs to use what works best for them and feels safe for them
