Oh man, Uniqlo or Muji would be phenomenal to have in Halifax. Or Daiso, the store Miniso wants to be.

Uniqlo would make sense considering they’re already in similarly sized cities across the country

I have heard nothing else
my instinct is that this is just some version of the Uniqlo rumour

But I originally heard Uniqlo in a different part of the mall

Figured this would be UNIQLO...

I was really hoping we'd finally get a Uniquo.

Depends on what the focus is... between Ejoy and New Asian, which are huge...not sure a place in HSC could really compete. Other asian places are already closing like the Union that was in Bayer's lake.

All this comment assumes it's food focus...if it isn't, it probably has a better chance

Ejoy is way the hell downtown, and New Asian is way up in Bayers Lake. HSC is halfway between, in a spot very accessible by public transit, so it's a good place to put a third market.

Union, well... I used to go there, but New Asian basically kicked the shit out of it for selection.

I don't live within city limits anymore so I drive regardless, but Ejoy seems just as accessible via bus as HSC would be.

It's not though. If you live in Spryfield you're taking a bus to Mumford and then to downtown, all roads lead to HSC. If the Asian market is at Mumford you just cut the journey in half and potentially eliminated the need to transfer. Taking the bus to Bayer's Lake is totally unfeasible so an HSC market sounds awesome to me. Way, way more convenient then having to go all the way downtown (and maybe get stuck in the downtown and university traffic, shudder)

I would go to a store at HSC before going downtown or to Bayers Lake.

it's T&T

Source? Their smallest store right now is more than double the size of the space Lawtons + VS vacated.

Right, like please don't get my hopes up like this if it's not confirmed

•

I doubt very highly its a T&T and that is one of the main reasons

Hope it is not T&T, Loblaws fake-ass trash.

That would be unfortunate to me. Looking for more Vietnamese compared to Chinese.

Tian Phat on the Bedford Highway is run by a Vietnamese family.

Small place packed solid with stuff, and a really annoying place to get in/out of with traffic. But they've got lots of things New Asian doesn't have, like pretty much every form of Thai curry paste that exists. And their restaurant supply aisle in the back is excellent.

Yah, we know about it...ever since they reopened they do not have much selection of things we can't get elsewhere.. they used to be packed with unique stuff.

The is a bunch of fruits and veggies with would like to get our hands on. New Asian started selling a few like Mangosteen...but the elusive custard apple still remains lost

Custard apple is one of my favourite fruits too! Costco in Bayers Lake had atemoya (close cousin of custard apple) about a month ago. My husband's Vietnamese and he said it's pretty close to the fruit back home. Cheaper than the custard apples at the Asian stores too. Sadly it's gone now, but hopefully it comes back!

Yah, I seen those and picked them up. Definitely comparable. The price tag was a big harsh when you compare it to buying fresh in Vietnam, but reasonable enough since it's an import...it's a nice treat.

I had accepted I won't get many of the veggies, we actually brought Rau Ma seeds back with us when we were last in Vietnam, haven't panted them though

Wow! I remember having sinh to rau ma when we were in HCMC couple of years back. I’ve heard it grows well in the summers here. All the best!

As someone who used to go this Lawtons frequently, I approve this.
