Yatao ember steel pans

Are they made by Ayasa? They description states they are designed and shaped by Ayasa. They're quite a bit cheaper than one straight from Ayasa themselves. I'm wondering what the difference is.

they are made in china. I have a d kurd that I bought 2 years ago. I dont have any complain. That is the only one from yatao I got, I have 3 others made by isthmus instruments.

My understanding is the stainless steel yatao pans are Chinese. These are labeled as ember steel with the designation of being designed and shaped by Ayasa. Theyre cheaper than Ayasa themselves(It's still an expensive pan). It made me wonder what the difference between the two would be.

all yatao pans are build in China for sure. Looks like for ember, they source they the shell from ayasa somehow. It is not uncommon for a builder to order shell from another experienced or 'bigger' builder.

Interesting. So they order the ember steel shells from Ayasa but a Chinese builder builds/tunes them?

I think so. I know a local builder I bought one handpan also used to get shell from ayasa

No, they aren’t. But they are just being relabeled by another manufacturer in China.

Si pero pasan mas controles de calidad igual que los novapans. de todas formas siempre es mejor comprar uno hecho a mano por un artesano

In this case, the original manufacturer is of a very high standard, and you won’t find a handpan there for less than €1,000 if you buy directly. All handpans are handcrafted by an artisan. Ultimately, it’s not just about the final tuning, but rather how many times the steel has been fired, pre-processed, and so on. Handpans priced under €200 are also handcrafted, but because they undergo fewer processing steps, they are potentially more sensitive to temperature changes. Moreover for the tuning, it is usually not just the note itself that is right, but also the overtones, which makes chords sound more harmonious.
