Gaming These ai video game mash ups

I hate these stupid gimmicky ai slop video game mash ups. I genuinely do no care for them. Everyone is acting like it’s the coolest shit in the world, it’s a fucking gimmick you laugh at for 5 minutes before moving onto something with equal or less substance. It’s also more justification for ai being pushed into every little fucking thing for no reason.

You can instantly clock the age of this meme by Abyss Watchers being there.

It's just that Elden Ring is way more popular these days so it would replace it in memes or be something like Gael who is more memed and "reddit chungus".

And also who would use Doom 2016 assets over Eternal? Not saying it shouldn’t be done but one dwarfs the other in popularity.

There is a lot of loud 2016 fans who insist it's only good one.

I wouldn't say is the only good one, I enjoyed Eternal a lot, and for a while I thought it was the better game... but then I played 2016 again for the first time since well... 2016, and I was surprised to find it more enjoyable than Eternal.

The level design is better, the levels feel way more fun to get through, there is actual boss fights, the melee is actually useful, and the story despite not being amazing, it's miles ahead of Eternal.

I didn't managed to play Dark Ages yet, so I can't comment on it.

I feel like 2016 and Eternal both have their strong points, and their gameplay is different enough for people to prefer one over the other.

PLUS: Eternal got a lot of popularity from speedruns, 2016 also had that, but Eternal is just a whole other level of game for speedruns... I would say a lot of people never played 2016, and just think Eternal is an evolution of it, instead of being just a different experience.

I don't really agree. I think doom 3 and 2016 has one thing in common. Both really want to be half life, but like Half Life already better at that.

Eternal being more arcadey is seen as a bad thing by some, but to me it's the move that was needed to be made. Levels are more varied, movement snappy, enemy design more demanding. I see people say Eternal focuses too much on battle arenas, but 2016 already was basically that in the second half just less engaging.

I wouldn't say 2016 is not arcadey, 2016 was Doom going back to it's roots, it was praised when it arrived exactly because it was what a modern Doom game should feel. Doom 3 toned down way too much, I don't think it's even comparable to 2016.

2016 also had a lot of arenas in it's end stretch, but at least it wasn't 95% arenas, even tho I loved Eternal, I was a little tired by the end, in 2016 the final stretch feels more cathartic, and the boss fights do offer a "break" from the normal gameplay, they are easy but they are fun, and feel more like a cool moment that you anticipate in future playthroughs. In Eternal, the boss figths felt more like more of the same, 2016's boss figths are not amazing, but they at least feel like boss fights.

I do miss the air dash when I play 2016 tho, I love the freedom of movement Eternal gives you.

I do understand prefering Eternal tho, it's an awesome game, but I don't consider it to be a superior or an evolution of 2016, I think just like Dark Ages(from what I heard), it is it's own thing.

doesn't 2016 only have a single boss fight at the end

You are 100% right. Doom Eternal leaned way more into maps that are essentially just enemy arenas connected by hallways. They realized that was dull, so they added some boring platforming. Doom 2016 had amazingly designed levels that actually feel like a full game. Eternal felt almost like an indie game to me.

I prefer 2016 to Eternal, Eternal just didn't grab me the same way.
