Gaming These ai video game mash ups

I hate these stupid gimmicky ai slop video game mash ups. I genuinely do no care for them. Everyone is acting like it’s the coolest shit in the world, it’s a fucking gimmick you laugh at for 5 minutes before moving onto something with equal or less substance. It’s also more justification for ai being pushed into every little fucking thing for no reason.

I dislike AI being used for things humans are already capable of and frequently profit from. AI art, AI music, etc. But, to be honest, I’ve never heard of people combining two games down to a level like this. As far as I’m aware, this use of AI isn’t replacing jobs. And, in my opinion, it’s a little more entertaining than “a fucking gimmick you laugh at for five minutes”.

Look I don’t mean to defend the terrifying growth of AI, but you have to admit there are at least some good uses for it.

Like the other person said I can respect you actually having a nuanced take instead of just responding emotionally with anger because you heard "AI" and started frothing at the mouth.

When I see a video like this I'll watch it and move on with my day like any other Youtube short or whatever while I'm sitting on the toilet. It's a fun novelty, it's not meant to be museum art.

That isn't the point tho. What he thinks is irrelevant to their point, the point is the people that get so mad about anything even remotely involving ai are pretty much the same as him in terms of emotional maturity.

for this we need to define what "good" is.

does "good" account for all cost and spent resources, or does it require us to ignore negative byproducts of the product?

These projects are the product of AI datacenters being built around america. Those datacenters destroy the environment, destroy the lives of the locals, cost billions that could be used to better our society, and worst of all, are used as tools of oppression by american leaders, and are being used to hoard information, destroy the source materials, and then sell that data back to you. theyre making information less available so they can charge you to have a computer poorly explain it to you with no sources to references because they are destroying the sources.

All of that just to make mario fight an elden ring boss.

is that good? i dont think thats good.

Would be less of an issue if there’s wasn’t a huge environmental impact. Also economic impact on regular people. Also ai still is stealing from people and also these mods are cool looking but come with a ton of bugs that never get fixed because the ai coding it horrible coding

Then be consistent, apply the same logic to everything else too. Digital cameras, computers, kitchen appliances, any advancement in general has stolen manual arts and crafts for that matter

To me it feels like a gimmick because you can't realistically play this, you get a funny/unexpected clip out of it and move on. Would it really be good to do a full playthrough of Elden Ring as SM64 Mario? Probably not, it'd get old after an hour

I know there must be a few game combinations that would be genuinely fun to play, but most of this content is just 2 random games fused together with no real intent other than to get a clip because "haha look at someone playing Minecraft in Fallout New Vegas"

Its pretty playable. I saw someone on yt try a whole playthru. The only problem was that mario couldn't get onto platforms that were moving, or could move (like elevators). If you fixed that problem or just used CE to clip to where the elevator would have taken you, you could def do the whole game.

Its also not just mario in elden ring. Minecraft in skyrim is awesome, with a fully mine-able environment, and building. Everything works just fine too skyrim side.

At least with the sudden rise in AI decompiling games, companies might put more effort into their securities since the only protection they had was the fact that the app was compiled and unreadable / unavailable to anyone

I would ngl, i played the entirety of that old mod that combines Mario 64 and Sonic gens for example.
