Few things better then hearing "Lets Go Hawks" in a road game

We don't have ball hawks anymore

Was supposed to be Lutmer this year but I’m just not seeing it

u/Responsible-Shape-98 7d ago
Yeah I feel like I hardly hear is name called. Maybe that’s a good thing?

I’m so tired of this secondary
1
u/FLHawkeye10 7d ago
Some yes they need to tighten up. Other times we were just sitting in a prevent defense all night. He was aggressive in the first half. Once we knew we could run and score we relaxed. A lot of plays we were just sending 3 down lineman and letting Brown just slinging the ball.
Some questionable calls and alot of missed holding. I’m convinced the defensive play calling would have been extremely different if it was closer. Either way Watson was getting picked on as well as our safeties. Also, the officials seemed to be hyper focused on our defense disregarding UWs blatant penalties.
Either way it’s a win so tighten up and move on.

u/MossyKeyboard34 8d ago
Not the secondary’s fault… when you get 12 shots at the end zone from inside 5 yards it’s hard to play defense

Parker has no respect for their backup QB and he is making us pay

u/Apatschinn 8d ago
Is Heck legit the guy, or does W's D suck something awful? Or both?
2
u/dontmakemedoothis 7d ago
Hank is such a Kirk QB, meaning he has none of the physical traits you want in a QB of a competitive P5 offense.
His throws have no zip, he’s not incredible mobile or nimble in the pocket, and he has no deep ball. Heck has all of those traits and even made some tight throws on the run tonight that gave Diaz a chance to make a play. Specifically that low throw that got reviewed and upheld.
I haven’t seen the offense play that loose and energized all year. It’s like they could open up the whole playbook with Heck.

u/stephen0933 8d ago
I mean all three tds were dudes just standing by themselves in the endzone. So hard to tell

If this game continues the way it's gone, is there a chance Heck gets the nod next week?
1
u/dontmakemedoothis 7d ago
We’re on a BYE. Then Gophers on the road in what now looks like a trap game. I bet Kirk goes back to Hank, but won’t hesitate to bring Heck in if the offense goes back to sputtering. They’ve looked so much more dynamic with Heck. Even the run game works better with him under center.
1
u/DooDooShitPoopster 7d ago
Yep I realized after I wrote that last night that it was bye coming up. But boy Heck is fun to watch. I remember back in the day when we had Rudock and Beathard, somebody said Rudock will win the games he's supposed to, Beathard will win the games he's not supposed to. Kind of feel like it's the same deal here potentially.

It's still a game. It's nice having the real QB1 in the game but it's still a team coached by KF. If anybody can find a way to let a terribly coached UW team back in it, we have the guy. I'm hoping for a TO on the first drive of this series to cement it.

Exceeded my expectations! Play smart and keep running and you should put this thing away. They’ll roll over if they don’t get 6 on the opening drive of the second half.

Great to see iowa finally has a competent offense to pair with their Smith wrong defense. Not even an iowa fan but for years seeing their offense score 6, 10, 13, 9, and 3 ponts was just brutal

u/No_Entertainment_75 8d ago
Iowa has 27 points at half, and the under will STILL probably hit LMAO 🤣 ....just let that sink in for a second....
2
u/Cultural-Mirror6112 8d ago
As a huskies fan, we are ass. You guys finally found a QB , your defense has always been great
2
u/jkmhawk 8d ago
Hank looked good against bad Ds too
1
u/dontmakemedoothis 7d ago
Hank looked functional against bad Ds, and down right in over his head against anything more than functional. Remember Iowa State?

OSU fan. I thought you guys might have a dip after last week. Not at all though. Love seeing you guys delivering this beat down.
2
u/GRB_Electric 8d ago
So, who is getting fired from Washington tomorrow?
3
u/Ok-Sale-8105 8d ago
Husky here: Fisch is owed $34 mil if we fire him and UW Athletics is $48 mil in debt. Unfortunately Fisch will likely stay. I hope I'm wrong.

lol I remember last year when Washington fans were offended as to why they could possibly be beat by Iowa. Welcome to the big 10 guys.
2
u/GRB_Electric 8d ago
I love the former Pac12 teams getting crushed
4
u/Murky-Bread-4769 8d ago
I think they had this mindset that if they came to the Big 10 that they would be able to dominate. I mean, I’m not saying the Big 10 is stacked but literally any team that you play against in the Big 10 is a potential upset. I’m saddened we didn’t win against Ohio State but we can still compete at a high level.

Did Vonnahme get hurt on the play? He looked liked he slowed up suddenly. He stayed in for the PAT but something to look at

Am i crazy or heck just dropping dime after dime, the diaz one on third down was perfect. The deep pass broken up was perfect just a great breakup. He has some sort of gunslinging + swag to him.

u/blueeekthecat 8d ago
He’s had some good throws but he’s also been kind of terrible at times. The running game is saving us, if he didn’t have that to help open things up this would be a tighter game.
1
u/dontmakemedoothis 7d ago
I’d argue that his ability to push the ball downfield also opens up the run game
1
u/blueeekthecat 7d ago
Go watch the first half again. He looked awful at the beginning of the game and his throws he did make were completely busted coverages. He had a couple of good passes but overall pretty average play. That doesn’t mean Hanks better than him or vice versa. But the games where they played together, Hank clearly outperformed him. We are lucky that we have two serviceable qbs which is a luxury we haven’t had for the past decade.

u/_heyASSBUTT 8d ago
Can someone explain to me why the announcer just said that it’s OK if the ball hits the ground if he keeps control of it? That doesn’t make any sense.
3
u/Prudent-Drawer-2747 8d ago
The ball can "touch" the ground as long as the ground isn't used to secure the ball. Kind of a simultaneous hands and ground thing.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a delay of game on the defense. How does that work?
2
u/IAstrikeforce Let The Peacock Fly 8d ago
Should not line up under center. Everyone knows they aren't throwing from there. Just stay in shotgun
2
u/Rare_Barracuda_5152 8d ago
Heck opens up the offense, brown doesn’t make that throw 9 times out of 10. Only problem so far with heck is he needs to slow down the ball on the quicker passes

2 bad throws to start. Back to seeing 9 in the box

The 2nd ball was a designed throw, he was supposed to throw that ball no matter what. 1st throw there was nothing open

Iowa State at 915pm and Iowa at 8pm? Both on a Friday? Nobody consulted me on this schedule, booooo. I'm gonna back to yelling at clouds
2
u/PMURITTYBITTYTITTIES 8d ago
This is going to be the deadest Iowa October Saturday that’s not a bye week ever recorded
This feels like a cherry picked ESPN stat now that I type it out

u/autochthonous 8d ago
Traveling on the east coast and the game not being on until 9 is brutal.
5
u/CharlieMoonMan 8d ago
If you're in the southeast be careful brother! Im in atlanta and its gonna be rough weather weekend!
2
u/autochthonous 8d ago
Thank you, but I’m in Pennsylvania. Penn State country. Barf.
Edit: stay safe. Hoping you can ride it out.
2
u/hannibal_actual 8d ago
NC here.. yeah, the eastern time zone sucks for sports.
Regardless, hoping our Hawkeyes take care of bih-niss tonight. Hopefully Hecklinski swallowed a bunch of Robin Hood tokens and his accuracy is on point. 🤞🏻💪🏻

u/autochthonous 8d ago
Glad he’s getting the start. It’ll just make Hank that much more eager to get in.

We scored 40 again. Feels good. Half our games we've put up 40+.
