Western Armenian question Vakifli/Musa Ler Dialect- Has it changed ?
Hi everyone, Bolsahye here.
I was doing some research on the different dialects of Armenian the other day and while I was watching some interviews from the Vakifli village in Antioch I couldn’t help but notice that the dialect spoken is literally the same as what you may come across in Bolis. It’s kind of confusing to me because I thought since Vakifli is located on the slopes of Musa Ler the villagers would probably speak the endangered Musa Ler dialect.
Does anyone have information on this linguistic switch ? Was there a wave of armenians from urban areas that decided to move there ?
If anyone has some information on this I would be really glad to learn more.

No, it has not changed. It is normal for people with regional Armenian dialects to switch to one of the main dialects in order to communicate more widely, but speak their own dialect among themselves.
