Discussion I don't get why people hate so much on usuk

I dont ship them, me personally I see them as friends who act like brothers. But I never understood why people attack usuk shippers so much now.

America declared that he isnt England's brother anymore after he gained independence, thus they aren't considered brother's anymore. But some people on tiktok act like saying "I ship usuk" is like admitting you are an incest freak who slept with their own sister.

Can we just leave shipping wars behind already? Yes I'm a diehard fruk shipper, no I dont hate usuk shippers I just don't like the ship, it's that easy people💔

It used to be THE ship back in 2011. Nearly everyone shipped USUK or you were team FRUK ..or you were me and shipped both

Honestly the only characters that we see that I consider actual siblings is Canada and America. And North and South Italy. Of course there are others but we see those two pairs the most.

I think people get too up in arms about ships anyway. They're fictional. It's okay.

What about prussia and Germany or the slavics?

No don't get me wrong, I think they are related and they call themselves siblings. But compared to Canada and America or North and South Italy it's more of a general relation.

Though yes I still consider Prussia and Germany related. Relations in hetalia are really fast and loose

This, yeah I saw them as brothers and found them funny sometimes. I don't hate the shippers but not really into that UsUk shipping

I agree with you, you're allowed to hate a ship but thats no reason to harass anyone. I don't like ruscan (i ship cubcan) but I would never hate somebody for shipping ruscan

cucan mentioned disliking ruscan in favor of cucan is so real

Not my cup of tea, but I’ll defend their shippers right to ship them.

I’ll just filter it out like a rational person does with something they don’t like and not interact with content that upsets me because I make my own online experience and respect their right to create content you guys enjoy

so true. i recently got into hetalia and have seen so much ship hate, especially on tiktok. people act like it is the actual end of the world when they find out someone ships usuk or spamano and will post some kind of psa about it. how do people even care this much about who ships what anime countries.

I'm also on the new side as well. I imagine before the hate was coming from shipping wars. Now I think it's because USUK and Spamano, its probably more because they could come off as grooming.

A lot of official content with Spain and Romano is when Romano is shown as a child, and some of the early manga strips probably don't help as those could be a lot more unhinged.

US and UKs relationship gets viewed as parental a lot in the fan fics and content I've found, I think its due to a bad fan translation of the American Civil War strips, and there is the whole FACE family stuff.

hetalia fans hating on usuk shippers is funny considering hima likes this ship himself

when someone mentions this, they usually say "well himas a weirdo so idc what he likes" it's hilarious, why consume his media then if you don't like him?

It’s pretty obvious from some of the manga strips. I also remember someone saying that Himaruya said on his blog that England is gay and has a crush on America, but America is too oblivious to notice. However, the source is no longer available, so I’m not sure how true that actually is.

I used to hate it too, but now I love it. Great ship. So good. I also like Franada and AmeCan, haters can hate; more for me. To quote The Producers "Oedipus won't bomb if he winds up with mom."

I also like them depicted platonically too so literally like... Any FACE content pls I'll eat it all up, I love those four so much. They're just great. Shipped. Unshipped. I'm pretty open minded when it comes to ships these days.

FrUK is my favie too 🖤 my OTP and I don't mean One Time Password. I adore them the most above all. But I still love other ships too

The fact is that very little actual sibling or familial relationship is confirmed canon in Hetalia. In most cases, people ran with the fact that they look alike, act like family at points or call each other some variant of brother in Japanese (and if you know Japanese, that doesn't necessarily mean blood ties). Let's not even consider the fact that these aren't humans anyway. They don't have a mother or a father or whatever.

But anyway. The core of the matter seems to be that people these days are increasingly concerned that portraying a sibling relationship romantically means "normalizing these behaviours".

...for the love of god, don't grab your pearls so hard, you are going to choke yourself.

Literally it feels like im in the trenches just for shipping usuk 😦 like man theyre countries. The anti and moral purity uprising crisis got so bad after covid and normies started entering fandom without learning fandom culture

Do people still do that? As a usuk shipper myself, I thought that ended at least a few years ago, if not more. But maybe I didn't notice just because I'm not really active in the fandom spaces anymore.

In any case, ts is stupid as hell. They're not blood-related, to my knowledge - it's never stated in canon that they're anything more than adoptive brothers. But then you see people claim they're either canon brothers or, what's even worse, that they're canonically father and son💀

No hate towards people who see them as brothers or any other familial dynamic, but let's not claim shit is canon when it's not, and let's not hate others for shipping what is not canonically incestuous.

Like, I hate rusame wholeheartedly, but I'm not gonna hate on someone who ships it, we can always get along despite our differences. Maybe this should be the attitude towards all ships and shippers - that would be nice.

not a fan of usuk either, i think theyre waayy better off in a sibling dynamic. Ppl on the internet are just idiotic and hate on anything they dislike, dont bother trying to understand why because there probably is no reason.

I do still think they are seen as brothers (personally) bcoz even after america declared not being his brother anymore you can still see how their relationship affected both him and england, england still thinks about the time he used to take care of america. I feel like they had a pretty deep brotherly relationship lwky

You want the honest reason: USUK and Spamano aren’t as well-liked these days because a lot of the fandom has grown older, and have begun to find that being attracted to someone who you met while they were a child and you were already a grown adult is not appropriate, which leads some people to liken those ships to grooming.

It’s not as much seeing it as incestuous as it is the age gap and previous minor/adult dynamic.

Exactly this for me, tbh. Im not gonna go scream at/send hate messages towards those that do ship it, I just usually try to not interact with 'em much

Simplest explanation is that, if it's a popular ship within a fandom (i.e. a lot of people like it), there are bound to be a lot of people who also hate it too. But yeah, the hate is kinda forced, Hetalia is a 20 y/o piece of media which will bound to have things/elements that don't fit to the current moral idea of a fandom.

Full offense here but I don’t get the appeal nor seeing this and going like “ wow they definitely would look good and be in a romantic relationship” and people wonder why they get hated on for it lmao “ u-uhm but hima likes it..! “ if he tells you to jump your going to jump im assuming just because he said it
