Comics This might be the coolest thing Hulk has ever said

I believe this is the first time thanos has fought one of the more powerful alters, and it did not go too well for him.

The second time they fought, this hulk couldn't do it with the illumanti

He broke the Hulks neck. The only reason Thanos lost in this fight is because he just ASSUMED Hulk wouldn't get back up, which he did. I really think too many people take this fight out of context.
I love Hulk but we've seen Hulk lose to Thanos before. Thanos real flaw here was his arrogance. He underestimated the Hulk's resilience in this fight.

u/pistolpete2185 Devil Aug 13 '26
We've seen hulk get planted by thanos multiple times. Even at this new level of strength for hulk, he still needed a team/ or for thanos to be distracted with the mind gem

u/Paleosols2021 Aug 13 '26
Yah I'm really tired of people on this sub subverting reality so that Hulk looks more powerful than he is. Again, I love Hulk, but this whole "Hulk beats Thanos in the comics" is nonsense. Just because he lost in the MCU doesn't invalidate the Hulk, it just shows how powerful Thanos is.

u/DBZGTwasgreat Aug 13 '26
The reason people feel that is because literally has infinite strength but assume that means he is at infinite strength all the time. In truth the longer a fight goes and the angeryer he gets the stronger he becomes. There is no limit to how strong he can get during a fight but he has to build up to it.
Thanos is strong enough, smart enough, and skilled enough to beat hulk before that point. If he doesn't he loses

u/Paleosols2021 Aug 13 '26
Even then, Thanos has done some insane stuff and I wouldn't say that Hulk would beat him in a pure fist fight either (he *might* but I think it really depends on the writers).
Thanos himself said he would avoid a confrontation of that nature if he could and I think that makes sense, he's not dumb enough to get into a fist fight with someone as strong as the Hulk unless he has to. That said, he has a myriad of other abilities that would put Hulk at a disadvantage too.
Thanos vs Hulk is one of those things where it's really up to writers exactly where both characters scale in the moment but normally Thanos is the winner in that confrontation. That's not because Hulk is weak or nerfed it's just because Thanos is that strong. Maybe one day we'll get a story where Hulk beats Thanos 1v1 but I think for now the writers don't intend to give us that story for a while. Especially with Thanos being established as a popular Avengers villain who needs a team of superheroes to bring him down in more recent media.

I mean, Hulk litrally beat Thanos in a 1v1 here when Thanos had the god damn mind stone as well.

Thanos normally knows not to engage hulk on hulk’s terms. He usually ends the fight as quick as he can and with tech or magic not his fists. This was a lesson he learned back in the infinity saga. This was basically Thanos as you rightly put it, let his arrogance get the best of him and forgetting that lesson.

M8, Thanos still lost and Hulk would just get stronger. Thanos had no way of beating Hulk and Thanos has never actually beaten Hulk in a 1v1 either. Not that Hulk is consistently at one set of power either.

Didn't Thanos after getting his ass beat horribly went on to fully throttle both Thor and Carol at the same time right after?

The guy lying on the ground gasps "Doctor...Back...Shot"

He was not knocked out. The mind stone did the killing blow
0
u/Time_Discipline4193 Aug 13 '26
Not really? Even the mind stone said it wouldn’t be enough to keep thanos down for long before hulk put him through the ground
2
u/pistolpete2185 Devil Aug 14 '26
Nothing keeps thanos down for long, hes immortal, in the sense that he'll keep coming back. He pulled out himself out of black hole, it took hulk an untold amount of time to do that.
-1
u/Time_Discipline4193 Aug 14 '26
I mean sure, regardless the mind stone barely had a hand in thanos’ defeat here. It was all Hulk
1
u/pistolpete2185 Devil Aug 14 '26
Thats why he failed with a team next time they fought lol, he literally could not do it.
1
u/Hangry_Jones Aug 20 '26
Again, it was not next time. When he fought with a team it was the first time, this is the fight after that.
And their first fight was interupted, Both Thanos and Hulk could still fight.
Also, Hulk was in a supermassive Black hole and then beat Galactus, Thanos has not done that. Be honest if ya are gonna mention the blackhole feat.

This was after the fight with the illuminati. He succeeded here, that’s all that matters
2
u/pistolpete2185 Devil Aug 14 '26
No it wasn't, this hulk said you've never fought me before in this specific fight, read the words before talking with your ego.
1
u/Time_Discipline4193 Aug 14 '26
Infinity watch crossover was published in august 2024 while the fight with the illuminati came out at the start of 2024 search it up yourself. Hulk saying thanos never beat him stands because in truth hulk was still able to fight even after being punched into a building.

To add, if I remember correctly, Hulk has killed gods too. (And god-like beings.) I remember the Devil Hulk killing the god Hypnos (even if Hypnos got resurrected in a later story).

To this day, thanos fans still cope that Hulk wasn’t the definitive winner of the fight. No it didn’t become a 2v1 when thanos was already defeated and unable to continue the fight to the point that the mind stone could casually walk and stab thanos in the head because he was unable to defend himself

u/ParchedYurtle59 Aug 15 '26
Disney saw all these badass hulk moments and was like "yeah we wont be doing any of that here."

Besides the fact Hulk has actually killed gods before as well, I dunno why that was never mentioned?
