What are we alienating Canada? CANADA, of all places.

The faster we get the GOP out of power, and the PACs also taken care of. The quicker we can get to a better future. Until that time. They will keep burning us to the ground to stay in power and face no consequences.

10

u/Spaceknees Sep 17 '26

You have a jekyll and hyde problem in the US, it doesn't matter if the so called "good guys" win the midterms and presidency in 2028, eventually the GOP will win again and it will all start over, that's why we are moving on from the US as much as we can, the order is destroyed, you ruined it, there's no fixing it.

5

u/CaptainMagnets 29d ago

The only way to "fix" it is to make the people who are breaking the law face justice.

Since justice is a sham in the USA, that will literally never happen. Americans don't hold people accountable, theyre all just waiting their turn to rip off their neighbour

2

u/TheDreamingMyriad 29d ago

This is the sentiment world leaders have given for at least a year now. To the point where they want to move away from the USD in markets. Which is INSANE we fucked that up. While our leaders suck, other nations don't (and rightfully shouldn't) trust US. We voted this in. We voted this in TWICE. We have proven that we are not stable enough to be trusted with the power we currently have. And rather than capitulate to the US again and again, the world has to decided to move on. It sucks; me and my children's lives are getting harder and harder, and unlike the super wealthy I can't afford to just up sticks and go wherever I like. But it's also incredibly understandable, and so goddamn embarrassing.

Because you're the bad guy's. If you can't make it work with Canada, YOU'RE the problem

-45

u/Justda Sep 17 '26

Ya cause it wasn't carney who pulled the deal, so they could keep china in their pocket right? How dare we demand fair trade against sweet innocent canada

26

u/BotsKilledTheWeb Sep 17 '26

You fuckers are threatening Canada for DARING to trade with Europe because they are in a trade war they didn't start with their neighbor.

1

u/Justda 25d ago

No it's because he made the whole thing up... Just pulled the whole EU membership right out of his ass šŸ˜† šŸ˜† šŸ˜† And yall 100% started the trade war when y'all ignored the established trade deal to raise tariffs on American goods and allowed in cheap Chinese aluminum that you sold to us as made in Canada... It's easy to Google and educate yourself on who made the first move, even the big media guys will tell you Canada started it...

Y'all had the best deal, y'all threw it away and told us you didn't need us, even called us your enemy... But we're the bad guys for refusing to maintain a lopsided trade deal that benefits Canadians magnatudes more than it benefits Americans... Y'all made that we refuse to keep proping up your economy... šŸ˜†

10

u/kermityfrog Sep 17 '26

The USA doesn't trade tremendously with Gina?

1

u/Justda 25d ago

Yes we do, and it's all very specific as to which items can come from where... Canada wanted the US to keep the anti China language on our end to protect Canada from being under cut by China... But then canada demanded that they be released from it so they can absolutely understand cut American products with Chinese...

It's not super complicated, Canada wants free trade while charging for access to its own markets, kinda how China works... But Canada doesn't have the market or economy to make demands.

10

u/tom-branch Sep 17 '26

You had fair trade, you had free trade, you chose to try bullying them into unreasonable and unfair trade agreements, ones you wouldn't even honor, along with threatening them with invasion and military annexation.

The US delegation deliberately sank the deal by making unreasonable demands at the last minute, so kindly toddle off with your gaslighting MAGA.

1

u/Justda 25d ago

What unreasonable demand? What did the US change last minute? Or was it actually that anti China policy, has been in place on both sides for like a decade, that Canada wants the US to continue to abide by while Canada can now under cut the US with Chinese products...

Come on what did the US change?

1

u/tom-branch 24d ago

The Trump admin made demands that Canada effectively put itself at a massive trade disadvantage, and cede trade sovereignty, including only trading a significant number of Canadian resources with the US alone, and at a steep discount, while basically threatening them if they didnt, not a reasonable position at all.

The US tore up its free trade agreements with Canada, it doesnt get to dictate that Canada follows the trade treaties that Trump ripped up.

Canada is seeking other trade partners and expanding Canadian trade to offset the Americans and their silly trade wars.

1

u/Justda 24d ago

This "silly" trade war has already cost over a million Canadian jobs, and a tumbling currency.

Trump wanted China excluded, the same deal we agreed to follow, there was no last minute change, just like the EU never offered Canada membership.

Canada has no leverage...

1

u/tom-branch 24d ago

Based upon what data exactly?

The US does more trade with China then Canada does, are you going to exclude them from your own trade as well?

Even the Trump admin isnt pretending there were not last minute changes.

If that were true Trump wouldnt be flailing about this.

The EU didnt offer them membership, they offered them special status that allows greater trade between them.

You are just a font of ignorance and hot air.

1

u/tom-branch 22d ago

Radio silence when asked for facts, same old story.

1

u/Justda 22d ago

Sorry I'm not on reddit everyday, I actually go outside...

Based on the data of Companies abandoning Canada for the states, based on the reports released by Canada you can Google them yourself.

The US does more trade with China because we're bigger than Canada. The deal isn't no trade, the deal was no trade on items we agree to trade with each other, so we can't undercut each other later tipping the scales in either ones favor.

How is trump flailing exactly? By trolling Canada on his dumb little social media app? Such flailing...

The same deal they offered Ukraine years ago? Article 49 prevents it from ever being a reality...

3

u/GodEmprahBidoof 29d ago

Trump himself negotiated the last trade agreement with Canada. Given he's the best negotiator in the world, you'd think he'd have got a good deal. Maybe you guys should vote someone more competent in next time?

0

u/Justda 25d ago

The last deal... That was then, this is today. Yesterdays deal was good yesterday, but today we get a better one... Y'all were the first to go against the deal and add tariffs, y'all said we were your enemy and that you didn't need us, y'all were warned every step of the way and y'all ignored it... Now your money is tanking and millions of jobs are gone.... All this pain to avoid paying a little more for things but still paying less than we charge anyone else... Wonder which choice would have been cheaper.

Ya Trump is so incompetent and horrible at business deals that Carney had to Lie and make up the EU special member story for clout, just to be called out by the EU for making it up and trying to bring them into Canada's trade war because the EU nations already signed deals with Trump... So incompetent

8

u/PolloConTeriyaki Sep 17 '26

The GOP has a habit of beating their wives.

3

u/Ok_Chap 29d ago

They had the audacity to say no to become America's 51st state.

6

u/Ok_Chap 29d ago

And the scary part is that there are still so many Americans supporting this demented orange maniac, that keeps alienating the US longest allies.

I mean cause Canada is a country?

I mean it doesn’t really make sense to alienate your neighbour country that’s been allies for decades.

And when that country decides to stop bending over backwards to maintain a relationship the US gets upset when they go elsewhere.

Unless I’m misreading your comment.

4

u/xoricky56 Sep 17 '26

well if we legalized all drugs it would put the cartels out of business

What I am doing isn't working as I intended. I had better start doing it more.

17

u/rpgguy_1o1 Sep 17 '26

It kind of seems like weakening the US is exactly what he's intendingĀ

3

u/RedKnightXIV Sep 17 '26

Nothing so coherent, I fear. It's not that he wants to weaken the US. If we are to take him at his word, he seems willing oblivious to cause and effect.

10

u/Supercc Sep 17 '26

Underrated comment. Upvote this man, with haste!Ā

3

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 Sep 17 '26

Aye aye cap’n

48

u/Catpixfever Sep 17 '26

Tariffs are taxes paid for by the purchaser. Trump loves tax hikes.

-40

u/Daydreaming_Machine Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

So does the EU, have you seen the tariff they put on every Chinese imports?

3eu per diffƩrent item if they're less than 150eu (individually), then a 32% tax on anything more than 150eu; it's a catch-22

I understand every countries want manufacturing independence from China, but unless they invest heavily (subsidize) their home industries, all they're doing is pocketing cash from the people that needs it the most (why buy on Chinese websites when you could buy the same product at X10 the price?)

27

u/isthisreallife080 Sep 17 '26

Most developed countries penalize China for what are considered anti-competitive business practices. China has its own tariffs on most imported goods, is often accused (probably legitimately) of dumping, ignores other countries IP, and is guilty of human rights violations.

Tariffing China is not the same as applying tariffs to a close ally.

3

u/slowride761 Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

Agreed. Trump is doing tariffs on a host of products but trying to expand manufacturing through the 1.5T defense budget.

We already put a ton of money into defense and aerospace manufacturing through CHIPS. It’s obvious good manufacturing to have, but it requires having wars or other conflicts to maintain. Trump is now expanding like it’s the Cold War.

Disagree about the EU. Their tariffs on Chinese goods aren’t considerably lower overall.

31

u/SpaceGirlJackie Sep 17 '26

So Trump's solution to Canada wanting to limit trade with the US is to... Limit trade with Canada?

16

u/SirChasm Sep 17 '26

No, he already limited trade with Canada, now he wants to limit trade with EU as well.

22

u/I_MakeCoolKeychains Sep 17 '26

It's so bizarre to watch a powerful country allow a clown to disassemble their entire country and just like, do nothing about it

11

u/SirChasm Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

They'll wait for the upcoming midterms, and then IF those go well, they'll wait for the Democrats to do nothing about it, then they'll wait two more years for the Democratic Party to spontaneously metamorphose into an actual leftist party, then the next election will come and they'll find out the Democrats quietly took another step to the right, then they'll wait for...

2

u/Unkn0wn_666 Sep 17 '26

They literally kick all of their best friends and allies in the face, then collaborate with people actively violating human rights every step of the way, and a few years down the line the US will suddenly feel really sorry when their economy crashes even harder thanks to completely unnecessary and entirely avoidable reasons

3

u/SpaceGirlJackie Sep 17 '26

Ah yes, this is a great strategy! /Huge S

35

u/eXeXSchatten Sep 17 '26

Correct me, if I'm wrong. But he is trying to hold the people of his own country hostage. Like a three year old throwing a tantrum.

10

u/HauntingGummyBear Sep 17 '26

Can’t wait to be able to afford less food. I’ll get that flat stomach yet.

7

u/Particular_Ticket_20 Sep 17 '26

Trump is all-caps texting his ex gf that she's not allowed at his place anymore while she's sleeping at her new bf's place.

2

u/mightytonto Sep 17 '26

Great analogy!

7

u/Livid_Importance_442 Sep 17 '26

Trump, being the idiot that he is, believes the world is still like it was in 1946 when he was born, back when the US was the only major economy not devastated by war. Threatening the the entire world with tariffs only hurts the US in the end as other countries find new sources of what they need and form new trading alliances without the US.

Then in 2024, too many American people were once again conned by a narcissistic con man who is too ignorant to understand that simple concept. In short, the US fucked around then, and we're finding out now what happens when you elect a stupid, vengeful, jackass of a con man to lead your country.

13

u/mikeysz Sep 17 '26

Let’s see how this goes down in the middterms

19

u/NaBrO-Barium Sep 17 '26

Even if we course correct we have lost so much in the way of world power over the last 2 years. It will be hard for any country to take us seriously even if we do find a way to constrain the orange turd

1

u/jegausdal Sep 17 '26

At least three consecutive terms of sanity.

3

u/Tribe303 Sep 17 '26

We Canadians don't expect much to change even if the Democrats win both houses in the Midterms btw. Democrats are usually more isolationist than Republicans. Biden didn't remove many of the Trump tarrifs from his first term for example. Plus, your entire system is fucked up. We expect Trump 2.0 to appear in a few years, and he likely won't be as stupid as the current one.Ā

6

u/scruffy69 Sep 17 '26

So I am pretty sure this all calculated by the GOP. If you look at how the Nazi's seized power in Germany, it was totally dependent on an unhappy population and an unpopular scapegoat. For Hitler, the scapegoat was Jews, immigrants, and the infirm. For Trump it is everything and everyone not "American", immigrants, illegals, Canadians, Europeans, although strangely...not Russians...

3

u/Pr_fSm__th Sep 17 '26

Could you please drive down the $ course some more? I will travel to the US in 6 weeks and right now CHF is only 22% stronger. If you put your minds to it you can get it back up to 30% like in January, I believe in you!

2

u/gugabalog Sep 17 '26

It’s like America is take a chainsaw to its nose to spite the world

2

u/pumz1895 Sep 17 '26

If this happens, would that mean Canada would be part of the shengen? Because that would be awesome

2

u/Cyn_Sweetwater 29d ago

It's getting to the point where the rest of the world can just work around Trump's America and trade with each other without us. Trump's plan to destroy the country is on track.

1

u/Unkn0wn_666 Sep 17 '26

Trump: Imposes illegal tariffs on everything

Supreme Court: Revokes the tariffs, rules them as illegal and makes the US pay back billions of illegally collected taxes

Trump:

1

u/Representative_Bad99 Sep 17 '26

Nobody unites the world better than him.

1

u/hinterstoisser Sep 17 '26

Meanwhile Xi doesn’t even have to do anything drastic to create a rift between the US and its allies.

1

u/Boring-Tomatillo-209 29d ago

Oh hahaha ā€˜serous’ tariffs hahahaha, in two weeks they will be verry serious haha

1

u/ResponsibilityOk1211 29d ago

Canda has never been worth the US time or money everything they provide we can do cheaper easier and better... Canada is a bunch of clowns and draft dodgers

1

u/Effective-Log3583 26d ago

Like Trump? You know the guy who dodged the draft and acts like a clown.

1

u/PepperNormal 29d ago

He still thinks Canada will pay the bill. He really believes other countries pay for the tariffs and that the USA are getting richer by collecting them.

1

u/yomakest 28d ago

i remember people casually going across the border for groceries and gas waaayyy back in the day (lived in a border city ofc). nexus and all that.

completely stopped going there even for travel. seeing even white canadians and europeans being held by ice is absolutely insane. i have canadian/[eu country]/[asian country] passports, and none of those embassies will be able to help effectively. i'd literally be better off going to north korea with a chinese passport.

usa has officially joined my "no travel" list (for now) amongst north korea, areas of conflict in the middle east and africa. that leaves me with well over 100 countries to experience

Did you really need AI slop to create this meme?

0

u/TurtleBoxer_AllDay 29d ago

It also means the average American will buy less stuff from the EU.

-2

u/TheDeerBlower Sep 17 '26

Lose the shitty AI.

-7

u/Justda Sep 17 '26

How's that attitude working out for Canada so far?

6

u/Xenophobic-alien Sep 17 '26

As a Canadian who stood alongside my American brothers and sisters when America was attacked and sucker-punched, I find your statement deplorable. When you were down, you asked your allies for help, and Canada answered without hesitation. That is what allies do. We stood with you when it mattered most. You do not repay that loyalty by disrespecting the people who stood beside you in your darkest hour. That is not how you treat an ally, and it is certainly not how you treat a friend.

4

u/AliExpress7 Sep 17 '26

Its kind of been good for us Canadians at this point. Its the same as understanding perhaps we`ve been a bit to dependent on our partner in this relationship and are permanently building more autonomy and self reliance. Even the best partners wont always be around so long term this is a good thing for us.

-24

u/Someasshole1326 Sep 17 '26

I don't give a fuck. The canadians can keep their fake bacon. It's not bacon it's ham.

6

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 Sep 17 '26

Tell me you’ve never had Canadian bacon without telling me you’ve never had Canadian bacon.

Not to mention there’s different areas where you can get bacon off a pig. Like the back or rear. Silly comment but thanks for the chuckle.

-12

u/Someasshole1326 Sep 17 '26

Hey no problem. But seriously though I don't appreciate people who hand me ham and tell me it's bacon. It's the same kind of person that would hand me shit and tell me it's sherbert.

6

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 Sep 17 '26

I mean I don’t know anyone that has handed me ham in Canada and said it was bacon. Back bacon can look like ham but it’s not.

Sorry you had poor experience but Canada has really good bacon.

-7

u/Someasshole1326 Sep 17 '26

It goes back to when I was a kid. I was asked if I wanted canadian bacon on my pizza, I thought, hmm, I haven't tried that. Let's try that. Pizza shows up and there's ham all over it. I'm like, where's the big canadian bacon? Oh that is the canadian bacon? what you mean these slices of ham? Ever since then, I have a huge problem with Canadian bacon. And I blame the canadians for this. Btw, i love ham. Also, i've never been to canadia and have no plans on going, voluntary or otherwise.

I voted for Kamala TWICE!

3

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 Sep 17 '26

Yea that’s your problem. Thats not Canadian bacon in the slightest. Lol dude some dumbass countrymen of yours lied about what was on the pizza. So again your problem isn’t Canadian bacon, it’s based off a single incident when a person claimed ham was Canadian bacon…and this wasn’t even in Canada, from Canada, or Canadian in anyway. Thats like saying ā€œsome guy asked if I wanted a ford but gave me a Chevyā€ then blaming America for giving you the wrong truck when it was a single person.

Don’t go up to Canada, but I really think your judgement is massively skewed.

Also funny you blame Canadians for something they didn’t even do to your pizza.

4

u/Commissar_Sae Sep 17 '26

Did you know its not called Canadian bacon in Canada? Its a name Americans came up with for back bacon and has nothing to do with Canada. You got lied to by an American who then blamed Canada.
