You mean the CIA didn't fund the Mujahideen only to end up fighting a war against them under the banner of the Taliban? My bad, must have been a dream.
you're sorta correct, but it's a bad example. For it to be a good comparison, they would have had to start funding the taliban in 2001 while they were actively engaged in a war with them.
It continues to baffle me since it's their national language. For the first 10 years of my life I didn't speak English at all and I still know the basics. I'm not even the brightest but fuck me how stupid can the average american be.
Unfortunately, very. I attempted to learn multiple languages over my lifetime and was bullied out of it, by people for it not being English (most either trump supporters or every likely conservative leaning).
When I moved somewhere English wasn’t the primarily spoken language , everyone was shocked to wonder why I was so timid.
These people are ignorant children and I am continuously surprised by the amount of “shit that wouldn’t fly with my grandparents generation” they are getting away with.
idt talking about history is whataboutism. history can help to understand what is happening in the present
OP is clearly implying that this is a trump phenomenon that is happening because the us president is an idiot. while trump certainly is not very bright, if u have some basic historical context u can see this is an incorrect analysis. previous wars against afghanistan and iraq were equally "stupid" in the sense that they had no plan for "victory" whatsoever and the "opposing" weapons came from the us or from us military contractors. however wars are not necessarily fought to be won, esp in the context of a "military industrial complex" or "military keynesianism" where military is a major sector of the industrial economy
