While shopping at Aldi
So the guy had a gun and a long knife in his sweat shorts and a smaller knife on each sneaker. Wearing Aviator sunglasses indoors because Central Florida Aldi’s are known hotspots of criminal activity. He found a fan in the queue in front of him asking about his weapons. He couldn’t be happier to explain that he is protecting what’s his…..

u/Batvader92 8d ago
This doesn't even give "badass" vibes, it gives genuinely mentally ill vibes.
If it was just a gun in loose shorts I'd think he's just an idiot but the double hanging outside the shoes knives is very paranoid Schizophrenic vibes.
Just for the non-gun people if you everyday carry a gun keeping it secure(he hops once its clattering on the ground) and concealed(guns make people nervous....shocker, and if its actually needed the element of surprise is incredibly important).
Now knowing all that this guy is either A) mentally ill and detached from reality. B) An attention whore(like a kid not getting enough attention from their parents so negative attention is good enough). C)Someone that genuinely likes that fear and nervousness normal people get around an open carry loser.
0
u/Steveo3070 4d ago
You’re not a gun people either. That gun is 100% secure in the holster, the holster than you can literally see in this image. He hops once and it’ll stay in its holster. That’s said, I think he probably did this as a joke, not because he’s schizophrenic. Also, schizophrenia makes you hallucinate things, not carry knives. There’s an infinite number of mental malfunctions he could have.
0
u/Batvader92 4d ago
Are you dumb or the guy in this photo? Its a holster with the only thing holding it up is a single elastic band(He hops and the shorts AND the gun are on the ground.) and Schizophrenia can give you paranoid delusions (IE. I need double knives for when the Feds/aliens/molepeople disguised as normal people attack when I'm most vulnerable in the grocery store) literally a google search before you give stupid opinions on a illness is incredibly easy.
As for the "its all a joke" part this is literally a photo he didn't know was getting taken(by OP), was it a joke for just him and the grocery bagger? Your just making shit up to justify this dork. Is it you in the photo?
-1
u/Steveo3070 4d ago
Again, you’re not a gun guy because you have no idea what’s supporting his holster. You have no idea what technology exists to securely carry a gun there. His shorts are absolutely not supporting a 1911 without a clip, the gun is not connected to his shorts in anyway. He has a belt, or an elastic waist holster, under his shorts. That gun weighs about 4-5 pounds, if it wasn’t securely holstered, like real time, it would be on the ground.
He has knives, clipped to the outside of his TENNIS SHOES. That’s how I know it’s a joke lmao. The joke was he enjoys doing something goofy, and drawing laughs. Ur the type of dude who posts a hilarious shirt in this sub, sometimes it’s just funny dude.
1
u/Batvader92 4d ago
Do belly bands phase through his tucked in shirt too(no bunched shirt there either)? His shorts are also visible sagging where his gun is.
What the fuck are you yapping about? You really assumed someone doesn't know what a belly band is?

I can’t believe you’d mock this legend.
First he’ll have assessed you as a threat via ocular pat downs. Then as you’re laughing he’ll jump kick you and then go into a backflip where he’ll launch the knives into your pressure points like he practices in front of the mirror every night. As you’re bleeding, he’ll then pull the gun tucked into his waistband and shoot the security cameras. All according to keikaku.

Is that a pair of gym shorts holding up a 1911?!?!?
That’s some fucking strong elastic
3
2
u/Nue_shooz 9d ago
I’ve been carrying a full size 1911 in gym shorts for about 8 months. Mine have a drawstring that I tie around the holster empty so I can compress it as much as possible and it normally holds things in pretty tight.
That being said, don’t be like me it’s inefficient and stupid1
u/Batvader92 8d ago
I'd pay money for you to replace your 1911 with a P320 lol.
Sounds like one of Hercules 12 labors. "Appendix Carry a P320 in basketball shorts. No belly band."
-1
1
u/AWHS10 9d ago
I’m only asking because I’m curious, but do you carry it locked and cocked, or de-cocked with one in the chamber? Or do you carry it empty?
Also, genuinely, how many times has that thing fallen? I have a belly band for a 1911 that I don’t use anymore. If I can find, I’ll mail it to you, free of charge.
0
u/Nue_shooz 9d ago
Cocked and locked. I’m a recent amputee and use crutches so the quickest way to operate is the safest for me currently
I’m tall but fairly thin so my holster is pretty well seated in my hip area, once I started tying up the holster empty and then inserting the pistol I’ve had maybe 3 instances where I needed to re tie my shorts. I’ve just recently found out about the belly band, I’ve been meaning to give it a shot. My only concern is the southeast humidity making it smelly lmao

1
4
u/Squonk_Idonk1273 10d ago
I think the idea of being permitted to hide a deadly weapon is pretty dumb in general
1
u/Santex117 9d ago
It’s apart of the etiquette of owning and carrying a weapon to begin with. It’s not a toy, not something to show off. It’s for protection. I don’t need to show it off, just like I probably should go around flaunting my money about for everyone to see.
0
u/Squonk_Idonk1273 8d ago
You can show a weapon without showing it off, it should be something you NEED to have visible so others around you can be aware imo
-1
u/Steveo3070 7d ago
Makes you wonder what are the odds that Hitler said ‘You can be a Jew without showing it off, we just need to mark and identify the Jews, just so others around them can be aware’
0
u/Squonk_Idonk1273 5d ago
That’s a stupid argument lol
0
u/Steveo3070 5d ago
It’s only stupid because you value gun rights lower than other constitutional rights. Proving my point
2
u/Santex117 8d ago
I understand the sentiment, I just strongly disagree. You make yourself an unnecessary target at that point, and it is not something anyone else around me needs to be aware of. What are they going to do with that information? If I am a reasonable, law abiding citizen, I’m not going to do anything with a weapon I shouldn’t, and you’d never even know I was armed.
If I’m not a law abiding citizen, no law is going to stop me from concealing the weapon anyways. I feel like it’s the kind of thing that sounds good on paper, but in practice is actually very counter-productive and defeats the purpose of being armed for protection.
-2
u/Tiberius_Kilgore 9d ago
Seriously. What’s the point in hiding it? I’d like to be aware of the fact that someone near me is carrying a deadly weapon.
2
u/Santex117 9d ago
And I’d not like to flaunt it around for everyone to see. It’s for protection, not to show off. It’s not a toy or a collectors piece. I think people in general feel safer when they don’t see it, even if they agree that some people should be allowed to carry. That’s where the concealed carry comes in.
Also, another reason concealed carry is allowed is because potential criminals may not see it as so much as a hindersnce, as something else to try and steal or take. Better to not go around showing it off, just like I don’t wear the money in my wallet on my arm for everyone to see, even though we can safely assume most people are probably carrying some cash.
1
u/Tiberius_Kilgore 9d ago edited 9d ago
Oh, look. Found the “good guy with a gun.” Pulling a gun only increases the likelihood of getting yourself shot.
I wasn’t implying you wanted to show it off, and if having it visible is such an issue, how about you just leave it at home.
0
u/Santex117 9d ago
Oh look, found the terrible comedian with only bad jokes!
It’s not about being a “good guy” with a gun, it’s just about being a regular, gun owning person. This is basic gun owning etiquette.
Also I never mentioned anything about “pulling a gun”. It “increasing the likelihood of getting shot” is like saying “putting your foot on the gas in a car increases the likelihood of dying in a car accident” like no shit Sherlock, but we’re not telling people don’t own a car, we tell them to be responsible car owners and follow the law.
No one is just pulling their guns out and waving it around, because that’s literally against the law, and when you break the law dangerous things can happen. That’s why we have laws. And when people don’t care about the law, not having a gun isn’t stopping them from not using theirs on you.
That’s was such a ridiculous argument.
-1
u/Tiberius_Kilgore 9d ago
Damn, you’re dense. At no point was I joking about anything. I also wasn’t talking about pulling your gun out and treating it like a toy.
You’re more likely to get shot because you just made yourself a priority target to the person that gave you a reason to pull your gun because now you’re a threat. Better hope they don’t shoot you first. That’s also not even mentioning the police might mistake you for a criminal and light you up.
0
u/Batvader92 8d ago
I'm not sure I follow the "You’re more likely to get shot because you just made yourself a priority target to the person that gave you a reason to pull your gun because now you’re a threat." argument?
If your pulling a gun someone is at least threatening to kill you or someone else. So you being a "threat now" leading to you dying seems like a moot point. What do you think was gonna happen different if you didn't have a gun? "Just" rape or a "normal" murder?
If you meant it as a "guns unnecessarily escalate situations" then I could see your argument but I think your forgetting Concealed Carry is a thing(as in they should never know you have it until actual violence) and I think sometimes you just won't be able to deescalate no matter what you do.
As for the cop thing they already shoot unarmed people and even people that did have guns but then the firearm is secured by the police and THEN shot (Alex Pretti). I really don't understand why 2nd Amendment people and ACAB people have such different views when their so similar.

I'd put this down to a not so smart or responsible lonely old guy seeking attention. I'd pity him, but if he's not intelligent enough to properly secure that gun, he's not intelligent enough to handle it safely in the inevitable event that he fingers it up while showing it off to whatever unfortunate soul he corners for idle chitchat.
1
u/Thirdeyevoice10 9d ago
I would say "needing" to have a gun to do basic, normal things, is like the whole "emotional support" pet garbage. Both are bullshit, and if you can't leave the house without either one of those, you need therapy. Not a gun or a dog.
-1
u/Santex117 9d ago
Properly secure? You do see it’s in a holster right? They also make holsters designed FM be worn on the k side of the pants. This problem with this is not that the weapons aren’t secure, they are, it’s that he’s got a concealed carry holster but he’s still showing off the gun lol.
Alas we don’t know the full story, maybe he was tried once in his life, it’s entirely possible, and so he shows it off because he just doesn’t want to be tried again. We sometime pretend like people never have any hardship in their life, or don’t have good reason, or any reason, for doing things we might find weird or dumb.

2
u/TheOfficial_BossNass 9d ago
As a liberal who heavily supports the second amendment i disagree
Not everyone should carry most of all people who think holstering their pistol in elastic shorts is a good idea
Hell if I got my phone and wallet in the same pocket in those kinda shorts they start wanting to slide off
1
u/SavageCaveman13 9d ago
It looks to me like the weapon is on a belt inside his shorts. Or there is a belt built into those shorts. Look at them, they aren't drooping down as if they were supporting that weapon. It doesn't look like it it holstered on elastic shorts.

The downvotes are due to your idiotic comments. I hope that helps clear up some of your confusion.
3
u/Toukolou21 10d ago
What exactly is idiotic?
People post asshats with their bare feet on restaurant tables and many responses are "you're the weirdo for taking pics of people in public and posting".
Someone here takes a pic of an asshat with a gun in their waistband and nary a word about public pics and postings.
I find the virtue signaling ironic, that's all.
2

To be honest, I get what you're saying. I think it's unwarranted here because the picture doesn't include their face or any identifying features.. so a comment like that is not really needed.

1
u/Conbon90 10d ago
I dont understand this open carry thing. I would have tought that given its legal to carry a gun around, that you would be required to carry it openly. Rather than hiding it.
surely it makes more sense from a safety and law enforcement point of view to be able to see at a glance if somebody is armed.
4
u/Teboski78 Meal Team 6 10d ago edited 10d ago
Many states have the same mentality. Restricting concealment to licensure but allowing open carry without a permit.
Most criminals also conceal their weapons for obvious reasons.
Outright bans on open carry I think are mostly just a matter of comfort, security theater, & pearl clutching.
But personally I prefer to carry concealed because I don’t want to draw unwanted attention & be having unnecessary interactions with police if people reflexively call them.
It also allows me to remain armed without altering the normalcy of interactions I have in public with people who might not be accustomed to that.Additionally in the unlikely event an active shooter or an armed robber who doesn’t mind killing shows up, they’re likely to target anyone who’s visibly armed first.
And there are assholes who will actively harass and try to provoke people who they see with a gun out of sheer ego & stupidity. However the flip side of that, is that is any potential attacker who doesn’t want to risk their life or kill, is going to avoid visibly armed people entirely, thus preventing the most common kinds of dangerous confrontations all together.

Your first two arguments were understandable, though I don’t necessarily agree.
Your last one was positively smooth brained.
The average attack in public takes seconds.
The average police response time is measured in minutes.
The vast majority of civilian defensive firearm usage doesn’t result in a shooting, as brandishing a firearm causes ~90% of attackers to just run away. That being said, the man OP described is a dumbass and very worthy of this subreddit.

Same "argument" from a gun owner. Defense against...what? Who? If you have people hunting you down in the pharmacy line, it's most likely a you problem, not a societal problem.

Call the cops to report that somebody’s exercising their second amendment right? Or that you suspect that they don’t have a CCW? The guy is a dingus, but I think the police have better things to address if nothing‘s going on.

Depending on the jurisdiction, if the grip is easily visible above beltline and not covered by clothing, then it still qualifies as open carry.

I don't think that argument stands when there has been random mass shootings at grocery stores, movie theaters, fast food places, shopping centers, and pretty much everywhere you can think of by now. u/just_an_aspie 10d ago
I doubt he'd actually use those efficiently in a shooter situation, it's more likely that that'd just put a target on his back and potentially escalate the situation even more, but even if the gun did help, all 3 knives (not just the shoe ones) are basically useless in a shooting, make him look like even more of a lunatic and are probably there just for attention

I agree. Where would you wear a gun if not to the places you go all the time and therefore have the statistically highest chance of needing one? If you only put it on in "bad areas" you are setting yourself up for a mess of problems, least of all being un prepared for most encounters

My biggest issue is that this is NOT safe handling and carrying, and if you can't do the most basic safety shit, like carrying appropriately, then you can't be trusted to use it appropriately, ESPECIALLY in high stress situations (I.e. when you'd need it)

The gun nutters always talk about how it's not the gun and it's mental illness... Since you can't tell who's mentally ill at one time or another, why don't we just eliminate the problem by just repealing the second amendment anyway? That way the next time a crazy guy or woman gets upset they don't have a gun to kill anyone with. At that point you'll just be angry and harmless.

the irony of these people. they think owning and displaying a gun in public makes them look tough, but it actually makes them look very cowardly. what’s this guy so afraid of that he needs to bring a gun into a grocery store?

I always say if they have that much fear of somebody trying to kill them, then it's probably a 'you' problem for them. Stop pissing off enough people that they want to kill you.

Not to mention it makes them the primary target in case a crazy shooter does show up.
