IQ Test Result Screenshot Mic Drop

Post image

Got a laugh out of this. Guy is arguing with another about AI and surrounding politics, when he decides to exert total dominance by dropping a screenshot of results from an iq test, and asserts that the world would be a utopian dreamland if people only listened to geniuses like him.

I’ve seen that exact same IQ test screenshot so many times now…these clowns trying to claim it’s their own always cracks me up

I think it's just the same troll reposting the same picture of an IQ test again and again everywhere on Reddit, and so his posts are regularly shared here.

It HAS to be a troll. If you go to this guy's profile page, you'll see the IQ test as a background image. He nicknamed himself as "99th percentile" and wrote "I know why you clicked my profile. This is proof that I'm always one step ahead. Try to keep up (you can't)" as his profile description.

There's absolutely no way this person could be serious.

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 13d ago

Lmao, 'you can't.'  I'm fucking dead!

I've seen their posts on here a lot but never heard that part.

u/Ghoulish_kitten 12d ago

Also OP is super religious. Gullible.

0

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 12d ago

Oh, that makes sense.  That type is always confidently wrong.  And stubborn.  God I hate religious people so much..

6

u/Available_Border1075 9d ago

It’s not religious people that particularly bother me, it’s close-minded people who choose an altar to blindly worship at without thinking, doesn’t have to be religious, could be a tech CEO, a politician, a celebrity, a philosopher, or a dead person from the past, it’s fine to admire people, but worship makes one delusional in their pursuit to oversimplify the world by choosing one viewpoint and clinging to it to feel safe

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 9d ago

It’s not religious people that particularly bother me, it’s close-minded people

I'm sorry, you immediately lost me.  It's hard to imagine a religious person who isn't close minded.  I don't get it.

1

u/Available_Border1075 9d ago

You completely misunderstood me, that’s not what I said.

-1

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 9d ago

It's copy pasted what you said, so that's an odd thing to deny...maybe it's just not what you meant?  As I said, I didn't get your first comment.

1

u/Available_Border1075 9d ago

Your understanding of what I said is not what I was trying to say is all I meant…obviously, and you yourself just admitted that you understood that much so you’re just being difficult for the sake of being difficult.

All I was saying was that religious people can be far too close-minded, and so can other groups of people under secular beliefs because fanaticism can manifest in secular ways too.

Clearly you were abused by some church or something and are far too angry to even take in what I’m saying. Even though I’m not actually even defending religion at all.

-1

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 9d ago

Okay, I see.  You're trying to defend religious people by drawing false equivalencies.  Sounds like you might be part of the problem.

Yeah, it’s actually mine smh

5

u/enwongeegeefor 12d ago

I’ve seen that exact same IQ test screenshot

It's not though...I remember a recent one that showed 130s. It's from the same testing site I assume.

-3

u/MolochAlter 12d ago

Even if it were theirs ~130 isn't all that good?

Like, I'm around there and I'm a fucking idiot.

It just means you are good at some basic pattern recognition shit, it tells you fuckall if you know what to do with those skills.

13

u/Pratius 12d ago

Uh, 130 is exceptional for an actual WAIS-IV IQ test. 99th percentile is correct.

Whether you think IQ tests are worthwhile is another matter, but 130+ is very much “all that good” for what they’re testing

26

u/Feathercrown 12d ago

133 IQ and doesn't understand that "exponential" makes no sense when applied to a binary comparison rather than a series

11

u/a_singular_perhap 12d ago

god, people misusing exponential is one of my biggest pet peeves

11

u/prole6 12d ago

They have decimated the ranks of intellectuals! ;)

4

u/Shades_of_X 11d ago

Well, he did get a low score on the information part, so...

3

u/carlitospig 11d ago

Also, ‘listen to intellectuals’. Like…a lot of intellectuals just like to hear themselves talk. Give me a Ben Franklin polymath with charm or stfu.

61

u/rodocite 13d ago

He does have a point about stupid people not listening to smart people.

23

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 13d ago

Yea, but they're also an example of people who have unhealthy ideas about being an intellectual. He's definitely making a lot of sense but still hella ego tripping.

I haven't really ever seen a post of this guy where they engage at all.  It's always them saying 'you're not smart enough.'  So I don't know if they can back it up or not.  And the fact that they think reposting these test results is their go to, I'm guessing no.

9

u/weedarbie 12d ago

Honestly every single time anyone claims to have high IQ, they are not really smart. Maybe intelligent, but not educated enough to comprehend that they could be wrong. I feel like people like this think that IQ 130+ equals having knowledge on any topic they want to argue about and usually are missing the nuances necessary to understand what the others are saying.

2

u/souransalty 12d ago

“Honestly, everytime I see this scenario that this entire sub is about, I think the same thing everybody else in the sub does.🤔”

2

u/Lobo_vs_Deadpool 12d ago

Lol, oh know.  We're starting to turn on each other....  Honestly.

13

u/DaStew831 12d ago

He accidentally hit the nail right on his own head.

13

u/_______no-------name 12d ago

Too intellectual to know when to shut the fuck up it seems

7

u/laggyx400 12d ago

Sorry, I don't date anyone with an IQ under 145.

3

u/Calm-Ad-443 12d ago

Sad, so I've got the wrong door.

5

u/laggyx400 12d ago

You can just paste a picture saying you do and I'll believe it. Never said I was the one with the high IQ.

3

u/Calm-Ad-443 12d ago

Lying is a sin. I can't do this. :(

2

u/laggyx400 12d ago

That's what friends are for.

3

u/TechnicalBen 12d ago

Oh, that's me out then.

2

u/Arachnos7 11d ago

I have 1 out of 4 WAIS-IV categories above 145 IQ. Is it good enough or are we talking strict across the board above 145 numbers?

3

u/laggyx400 11d ago

I'm not the smart one in this relationship, so I'll defer to you.

3

u/carlitospig 11d ago

I say this to my dog on walks. It’s actually kind of nice letting her lead. 🥰

1

u/Arachnos7 11d ago

I'd rather trust your intuition. That said, are you available next week on Saturday?

3

u/laggyx400 11d ago

I'm sorry, but I can't read. 🫪

8

u/smallcoder 12d ago

And there I was thinking that almost every problem is society boils down to rich, greedy, nascissistic sociopaths thinking they were superior to everyone else and equating wealth with intelligence giving them divine power to rule over all of the rest of the planet and never face any consequences.

I guess I'll just have to agree to differ with his (I'm guessing it's a "he" as it usually is lol) analysis of the world 🤪

5

u/Status-Visit-918 11d ago

Idk I’m not the dumbest but I’m not the brightest but I feel like if you have to tell people that you’re smart… you may not be that smart. I feel like people just “know” that.

This is generally gross to put out there anyway. There’s always someone smarter and more successful and the fact that this person has this kind of time tells me that they might not really be either

3

u/Rumpelteazer45 11d ago

Exactly.

I have the same IQ as douchecanoe in the post and I know I’m not some super intelligent person and the standard IQ doesn’t actually account for other types of intelligence or intellectual abilities (like picking up music by ear without needing any sheet music or artistic talent). While creative, there is a lot of brain power behind those things. I can’t draw a stick figure or play any instrument despite being in band class for 2 years - yes I sucked.

That also doesn’t even consider the socioeconomic implications associated with IQs. That your parents socioeconomic status and your environment have huge implications on a child’s long term IQ. A gifted child born in abject poverty in a rural developing nation will never have the same opportunities as a child in a wealthy neighborhood in a developed countries.

u/BloodyCumbucket 11d ago

So much this.

I tested out phenomenal. Was placed in TAG classes, got offered a nuclear engineering track by the Navy, at one point had one of the highest not only raw but GT scores in Oregon state history on the ASVAB, president's honor roll at two colleges and cum laude. Joined the infantry. Had a drug problem and ended up homeless for four years after my second wife left me. Work primarily service sector. "Intelligent" and wise are two totally different concepts. Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit, but wisdom is knowing it doesn't go in fruit salad. Intelligence is knowing the words of all the books in the library, wisdom is knowing how to apply them. Wisdom is learning from other people's mistakes. Wisdom is addressing your pro-social arrangement in healthy and proactive ways. I am viciously unwise. Getting better, but still, unwise. I see a lot of "intelligent" people in the same boat.

Right like my son is in this range, a little higher but he is terrible at math. He is amazing with science, which is odd because those two subjects are inherently linked. Not sure how he could have taken AP physics as a freshman but had to take algebra II twice but here we are. We’re not necessarily well to do; but he did have access to resources. I was a single parent throughout his entire life - toting him back and forth to college and then to grad school and working, but he did have the privilege of me eventually being a reg ed teacher, a special ed case manager and now, one of those fun people that tests using Weschler at our district. So he was exposed to a lot more in general at an early age, and had the benefit of pre-school, Medicaid (for autism, diagnosed formally at three, but omg did we know it before lol) in addition to me having been at school and taking him literally since he was three days old, which is a massive privilege. I learned about resources through my education and living in PA (not the “over there side”), where it’s more liberal so there were just more opportunities for him.

His best friend is every bit as smart, if not a lot smarter, however, he comes from an undocumented family and they did not have access to the things I did and were too worried about being found out if they tried. He ended up in lower level classes, but that kid is a literal math genius. My dad is a nuclear engineer, he worked with Hyman Rickover, was a commander in the navy and his whole education was math, physics, nuclear engineering. My son’s best friend is the only person I’ve met that has that crazy ability to just snap his fingers and work out ridiculously complex problems in his head, like my father. He’s also amazing with music and art.

Intelligence is weird, and IQ tests, even though still the most accurate measure we have, measure more what has been learned through education when taken as an adult. It’s ability as well, but largely the amount and type of education/access to knowledge one has/had the privilege or exposure to. Best measured when young for a better idea of where someone stands. It’s nearly useless as an adult. I don’t know why anyone would care to take one honestly, everyone thinks they’re smarter than they are and personally, I have zero plans on ever finding out what mine is - I’m sure I overestimate it too, and I don’t care to be disappointed by what I perceive isn’t “good enough”. The only reason my son was ever tested was because we needed to figure out where to place him in elementary school, and whether or not he needed a gifted IEP. My poor kid’s friend though, they didn’t even bother with his testing, just an IEP. Had they done so, I’m positive he would have been in much more advanced classes and would be ahead of where he is currently at 18 and graduated.

I’m rambling, the gummies are now hitting, I think, which will be nice, because ✨ruminating thoughts✨ so I’ll shut up but my point is, I agree entirely and have seen it not just within my family, but with my students time and time again. I have seen the patterns of differences in the wealthy or “comfortable”, white students clearly in my career.

u/Rumpelteazer45 11d ago

Being a single mom, your child was still afforded significantly more opportunities than a child born in rural Burundi (poorest country in the world). Yes it’s hard to think that if you aren’t rich then you aren’t afford those things, but on a global scale, even lower middle class kids are rich by comparison.

u/Thin_Confusion_2403 12d ago

His uncle was a professor at MIT.

3

u/Obacht93 12d ago

Intellectual and intelligent are two different things my dude.

4

Sub 130 = Super Dunning-Kruger

2

u/FergalCadogan 12d ago

Only 97th in Verbal

2

u/NomaTyx 12d ago

my response would be prove that it's yours lmao. i don't think he's lying necessarily i just want to belligerently deny it for fun

2

u/Dangeresque300 12d ago

Dunning Kruger strikes again.

1

u/Noodlebat83 11d ago

I don’t think he understands that IQ score means fuck all at the end of the day.

1

u/Revolutionary-Ask754 mesons, baryons, fermions, HADRONS! 6d ago

Do IQ tests actually use "very superior" when describing results?

1

u/Ok-Lingonberry4545 6d ago

This is probably the same guy who pushes on the door labeled "pull".

1

u/EmotionalTicket3224 11d ago

As a guy who’s actually in the 99th percentile, it’s honestly not that crazy or impressive, that’s only 1 in 100, there’s 8 billion people on the planet. That is an insane amount of people that are as smart or smarter than you, you gotta be like top 0.4 for it to even mean you’re a genius, I’m also an average guy with a good albeit average job and I just happen to be wicked nerdy in my free time, it did not give me dr house powers unfortunately. My girlfriend also 99th percentile, average albeit very nerdy girl

3

u/Arachnos7 11d ago

For real. Around 130 is barely gifted and far from being a genius.

2

u/carlitospig 11d ago

I’m 132 and can barely take care of myself. I feel like a fucking moron most days. All it’s really given me is the advanced understanding that I will never know everything I want to know.

1

u/Sea-Chemistry-4130 10d ago

The existential dread of understanding how little I know. So keenly aware of how little I can even ever possibly know. A raindrop in the ocean.

0

u/carlitospig 10d ago

Also knowing that I was born in a time when our evolution does not allow me to truly understand the full size of the universe. That just pisses me off.

1

u/Sea-Chemistry-4130 10d ago

Right? I just want to see the stars and understand their scope. Understand the universe and quantum mechanics at least SOME amount.

There's a thought that makes me sad, as the universe expands eventually you won't be able to see the other galaxies. A civilization growing up that far in the future, thinking their local cluster is the only one, not knowing the rest. Then I wonder what was around us that we've already lost sight of from the early universe, never to know of it.

I should have just gotten only into math like the others, they're not any more happy, but at least their curiosity can be sated. =P

0

u/carlitospig 10d ago

Ah but see, my religion is the Big Crunch. I like the idea that the black hole at the center of the universe always eventually sucks us back in and we start the merry go round all over again. 🥰

1

u/Sea-Chemistry-4130 10d ago

There's plenty of time for both! Also the infinite repeat big crunch is a fun concept, we're just elaborate rube Goldberg machines, infinitely repeating our cycle. We've had this exchange an infinite amount of times and will have it an infinite amount more.

1

u/carlitospig 10d ago

Maybe we’ve already had this exact conversation before. 😵‍💫

1

u/carlitospig 10d ago

(Just repeating for the sake of repeating. To get me into the spirit. See on the next ride!)

2

u/Sea-Chemistry-4130 10d ago

Enjoy the rest of this universe, see you in the next one!

1

u/Sharpthingy 11d ago

I’m 120+ but am diagnosed with a learning disability lmao

-6

u/notjawn 13d ago

99th percentile is barley one step away from being mentally disabled.

7

u/L4t3xs 13d ago

Poor joke, baiting or stupid?

4

u/Nomerchi 13d ago

Wrong

-3

u/The_Mdk 12d ago

Is he?

99% means you're basically where everyone else is, doesn't it?

Would being in that last 1% mean you're smarter than most?

7

u/enwongeegeefor 12d ago

99% means you're basically where everyone else is, doesn't it?

The percentile number means X% scored "at or below" the threshold. Being in 99th percentile means 99% of people scored below you.

4

u/The_Mdk 12d ago

Ah i thought it meant you shared the same "range" as 99% of people, thanks for the explanation

4

u/Feathercrown 12d ago

Bro is NOT in the 99th percentile /s

-1

u/saurusautismsoor 12d ago

That’s me! Haha! You found me 😈🙈😈🙈😈

-3

u/Humble_Aardvark_2997 12d ago

Well done. You did well at a test of unintelligence.

  1. If you’re a kid, you’re still a midget.

  2. I’m a negative person.

-16

u/BabyLegsDeadpool 12d ago

What annoys me more than that is that you downvoted him. Why? It's the one thing I don't understand about Reddit. The downvote button is not supposed to be weaponized for differing opinions or people acting in a way that you disagree with. That's what causes echo chambers.

8

u/perplexedparallax 12d ago

The downvote button can be used by any individual
for any reason they want. This is Reddit and there isn't a voting button police. If Reddit becomes an echo chamber that makes it perfect for training AI.😂 I understand the frustration but ask you to consider the nature and function of social media.

6

u/Calm-Ad-443 12d ago

Don't you need this button to express that you don't like the message? It literally correlates with almost everything that is negative.

3

u/Unicycleterrorist 12d ago

I have zero idea what it's intended to be if not a like/dislike button

1

u/Dunsparces 12d ago

There used to be an expectation that it was only for trolls or assholes but it's definitely turned into an "I disagree" button in the last decade or so.

-1

u/BabyLegsDeadpool 12d ago

And that's the problem. As someone else said, it was originally intended not to push dissenting views but to remove harassment or trolls or spam. But people weaponized it, and now it's used to create echo chambers. People legitimately saw comments they didn't like and decided to weaponize a system to create better conversation to instead remove all semblance of opposing views, thus creating worse conversation.

Reddit has incidentally helped to create a world where people can refuse to converse with others who think differently. It's sad.

3

u/bcw81 12d ago

Is a dude posting an IQ test result twice not trolling?

1

u/BabyLegsDeadpool 12d ago

Not necessarily. People being idiots doesn't mean they're trolling.

2

u/Dunsparces 12d ago

Having seen this dude post before in real time, they're definitely trolling.

3

u/Billlington 12d ago

When has this ever been the case?

And also by your own definition some troll repeatedly posting a picture of a probably fake IQ test seems like a great reason to downvote.

0

u/BabyLegsDeadpool 12d ago

This was the case back when Reddit first started. People weren't afraid to have actual discourse. There was also a lot more flaming back then. It was a different time. And someone being an idiot doesn't mean they're trolling. I feel like that's another thing people don't know: the definition of a troll.

Seriously, people are just like, "I don't like this thing. That person must be a troll!" Or maybe people are just different than you. And it's pretty easy to just, you know, not engage with those people. Instead of feeling like, "I must hide their comment!" It's pathetic.
