Bed of Chaos (dark souls 1)

1
u/IroncladBomber Jun 12 '26
Yeah, there are a lot of harder bosses, that can make me angry.
But Bed of Chaos, is just so fucking boring and tedious, the run back sucks ass, the awful jump system means you can constantly fail to jump and land where you need. Then to top it all off the boss doesn't put up a fight and dies in one hit.

Promised Consort Radahn
I beat his ass pre-nerf without the Finger shield poke build.
I have never hated a Souls boss than this one, both to fight and from a lore perspective. Heck, the DLC final cutscene is also so bafflingly bad, that it felt like an insult.
Like, come on, why do I need to see Miquella begging to marry Radahn, when the Divine Gate is right freaking THERE. Why promote the importance of it if you don’t even expand more on it?

Pretty much
PCR (pre-nerfed) was straight up unfair in various way, such as:
* He jumps you the moment you cross the fog gate (actually most of the bosses in the DLC do this)
* His cross X slash attack will caught you in the middle of the roll animation because it was incredibly fast
* His 2nd phase had problems with light spams and Miquella’s hair hiding animations because it is too fucking bigAnd also the reward is kinda meh at best. Both versions of the PCR Greatsword aren’t that good, even when compared to the Starscourge Greatsword you get from Starscourge Radahn.
He is a lot fairer now, but the entire DLC ends on him is just so … freaking … disappointed man.
Well, at least Bayle and Mesmer are both amazing fights with great spectacles.
1
u/horned-creature Jun 08 '26
beat the pre nerf version with a bleed milady and like 70 arcana, i usually play fair, even with bs bosses like malenia, but this mf doesn't deserve fairness.
1
u/Meowjoker Jun 08 '26
I beat his ass with Heavy Greatsword spec along a Deflect hardtear to deal with the X slash in phase one
And it still took me 60+ attempts across three days worth effort to get him.
I even had 2 Giant Crushers prepared, but between the hair and the camera work, I actually need to see where I am hitting.
1
u/TitchyAgain Jun 10 '26
I had a frost ant rapier and a big shield, poking his ass and felt bad to do it that way.
1
u/Kulthos_X Jun 08 '26
I beat him with the lightning perfume before they fixed the lightning perfume. Cheese vs cheese.

On Normal Ddfficulty they are easy. Just gun them down. Dont waste missiles. But i have not played the game on Hard yet. So maybe they are worse on other difficulties.

u/WeightOk2102 Jun 09 '26
I always play on either hard or ace difficulty, so maybe that's why they were such a pain...

u/QuasiDimensional Jun 08 '26
Kratos from Tales of Symphonia. Not due to how hard it was but because of the betrayal of him being in your party for all that time only to turn on you.

So there's this fight in Elden Ring that is a gargoyle, and when it's half health another gargoyle shows up. Their moveset is stupidly erratic and they can change weapons constantly.
Here's the most fun part: the fight happens over a shallow pond of green water. And they have a move where they vomit a green liquid on the floor, that has a huge range, stays on the ground for what feels like eternity, does a ton of damage per each second that you stand on it, and is pretty much indistinguishable from the (GREEN) water that you have to stand on during the whole fight. It is very much possible for one to do it while you are focusing on the other one, and there's no way to tell when this is happening unless you try to keep both on the screen at all times, which is incredibly awkward while you also dodge regular attacks.
It's been a hot minute since I last did a playthrough, and I still get mad every time I remember these fuckers.

You fool! You didn't specify why I should hate it!
I present my most hated bossfight for emotional reasons!
Spoilers for Scarlet Nexus.
In Yuito's story, Nagi's second battle is emotional and ends in tragedy. Nagi was Yuito's bestfriend, who was reprogrammed with Personality Rehabilitation by the New Himuka government, and eventually used as an attack dog by the government to try and kill Yuito and recover his brain. Yuito had to defeat his friend, whose body was so reveged by the government's experiments that he died as a result of simply fighting and using his powers — not even a fatal blow or battle injury. Nagi had a last, sad moment of clarity, and died in his bestfriend's arms.

u/Kadakaus Jun 09 '26
Thank you for minding the spoilers, the game was on my list.
I deliberately didn't specify why you should hate the bossfight, it could be for any reason.
I personally hate a lot more bosses than bossfights (that is to say I hate their personality more than fighting them).2
u/TheMasterLibrarian Jun 09 '26

Lost odessey Grilgan boss fight.
You basically have to pray that he doesnt use his rng teamwipe attack 2x in a short window.
Also its one of the first bosses of the game so you dont even have options/skills involved. Took me like 20 runs when i finally had one where he casted it once before i killed him. This either broke people or got to enjoy an amazing game.

Beat Melania in like 15 tries, Godskin duo was light work, and I dont want to hear shit about a fire giant cause chainsw goes brr.
The First Elden Lord however, is a man of character, strength, and beacon to all when on thinks of the word majesty. 43 tries (first run, strength/dex build), only to then get hit with a fucking leaf hurricane mixed with The Undertaker tombstone piledriver and that made it 65 tries.

I agree, such terrible fucking boss design.
Small room.
Mf spits projectiles that stun.
Is she misses, it becomes a trap that damages and stuns.
She spits 346643865 adds in 2 seconds.
She has the most annoying jump arc in the entire game.I like to imagine that Hornet dissected it after I killed it.
Team Cherry made some of my favourite and most hated bossfights of all time.
Along with Lost Lace (Teleporting is such an ass design choice for her), broodmother is a close second.

Easily the Rattlecrab from Scaler. Take a game that is mainly a platformer and action game, then throw in a random boss that is turret based gameplay. Keep in mind this is the 3rd boss out of 5, and its the 2nd of 3 turret sections in the game. While flying between a world where it is nothing but deserts and caves with an emphasis on climbing, and a world of floating stones and jellyfish where you gotta jump over a bottomless pit, is the world of this infuriating boss. A gigantic flying crab dragon thing that intends to make you its lunch. Not even influenced by the villains of the game, just a huge monster that shows up out of nowhere for the love of the game.
So. This fight has you with at least 3 hp, up to 6 if you buy life. The bar at the bottom is its hp. The boss itself has 3 phases. Phase 1, Giant claws need to be shot at and stunned 4 times to break them. Easy. Phase 2, 4 nodes on the head need to be broken while its fast as hell babies fly at you nonstop. Medium. Stage 3, shoot its mouth, its babies, and oh the tail which charges an unbreakable meteor if you dont. Very hard, borderline bullshit.
So why is this boss bullshit? Well, the camera controls, your projectiles, and the enemy hitboxes make it feel like you are hitting a coin with a paintball gun at 50 feet away without a scope while on a bumpy car ride. Yes you can heal, by shooting tiny balloons in a certain area where the Rattlecrab flees behind a mountain. Just pray you get lucky killing it fast and dont run out. Oh and remember the meteor that charges in phase 3? Guess where it can charge up while completely immune to your bullets? Yep. This boss can guarantee you lose if you are unlucky. If you die to it, you gotta start the entire fight over again.
And making it worse is when you finally do beat it, you might feel exhausted and not pay attention to the cutscene after, which has important lore for the story. If you miss it, the only way to see it again is to beat the Rattlecrab again. The cutscene isnt in the gallery. So all that effort you might miss important details and wind up confused later on.
Screw this boss.
