Besta/Kallax TV Unit

Hacked this Besta/Kallax unit together today with bits and pieces I had on hand. Used the shelves as structural supports, cut them to fill the bigger gaps. Functions as a display cabinet for family photos, memories etc. Held together mostly with timber decking screws. Thing is as solid as a rock 😂 I used white hot glue to fill the seams and cover exposed screw heads (thats all I had on hand), will go back over it with gap filler or sickaflex in the future if I need. Hole saw to run the fairy lights through the unit, hung them with glue. Was a fun project recycling a shelf that was destined for the rubbish bin, didn't cost me anything, fuctions quite well, made it work with what I had 😆😆 what do you all think, love or hate the assymetry? Good use of space?

That's a very literal hack.

I like the idea, embrace the jank and don't worry too much about details

That's probably the perfect summary 😂 order of priorities were safety -> function -> looks 😂

Okay I understand the "literal hack" line more after perusing through the forum HAHAHA, I did not see many jigsaws, orbital sanders, hole saws, structural brackets and 80mm zinc coated timber decking screws being used.. I did indeed hack and Frankenstein the shit out of that besta 🔨🪚 🤓 👷‍♂️

Is the box above the tv with the pictures custom made from bits and pieces?

What did you use for the doors?

Hey, nah its just the same matching besta shelf like the vertical one on the left, I just layed it down horizontally on top of the kallax, removed the inner shelves, and fastened it to both the left side wall of the besta and the sides and top of the kallax. So it's just acting as a "bridge" display cabinet for all my family things 😊 the other pieces were already fastened together previously (kids lmao).
