Language in Humanities Gen Eds

I'm planning for my spring semester and still need a LH gen ed. I'm hoping to get into ENG 124 but I'm worried it will fill up fast and need a backup. What's the difference between COM, ENG, and LAN 128? And ENG and LAN 125? What would you recommend?
