Careers Do people actually get rich working a 9–5?

I’m 23F, and I’ve always wondered how people get rich without generational wealth.

I used to work a 9–5 but could barely save ₹2,000 a month. I contribute to my family’s home loan and invest in SIPs, but there’s barely anything left. I don’t spend much either.

I know we all have to work to survive, but sometimes life feels like nothing but work, sleep, and repeat.

I’ve tried making content for Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube to earn extra money, but honestly, I don’t think I’m interesting enough for it.

My definition of rich is being able to buy things without checking the price every time. Anything above ₹400 feels expensive to me right now. I want to try fancy food, take my parents out, go on little trips, and have enough savings to manage at least two months without a job.

I also worry about my future and whether I’ll be able to support a family someday. I don’t want to take on debt just to get married.

I have a B.Com in Finance and Taxation and work experience in tax. I want to switch to something with better pay and a better work-life balance.

For those who started without generational wealth, how did you build it? Did you grow in your job, switch careers, start a business, or do something else?

Business/Finance Worst experience with Nykaa Fashion — courier picked up 3 items, refund for only 1, and support says he may have taken the others!

Honestly, what kind of customer experience is this?
I returned 3 items through Nykaa Fashion. The delivery executive collected ALL THREE, with the original tags and return tag intact. Yet, I received a refund for only ONE item. The other two are marked “Return Unsuccessful,” even though they are no longer in my possession.
When I contacted customer support, I was told that the delivery executive may have taken the items and that a complaint had been raised.
Wait, WHAT? A customer hands over the items to your own delivery executive, and now the customer has to chase their money because the pickup may have gone wrong?
My items are gone, two refunds are stuck, and I’m left trying to figure out what happened. This is absolutely unacceptable.
Has anyone faced something similar with Nykaa Fashion? How did you get it resolved?
Worst experience ever. I just want my money back for the items that were collected.

Sports The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) plans to suspend India’s Equestrian Federation from December 1, 2026, because of a prolonged governance crisis and delayed leadership elections.

India federation suspended by FEI amid governance crisis | Reuters

BENGALURU, Oct 16 (Reuters) - The International Equestrian Federation (FEI) said on Friday it would suspend the Equestrian Federation of India (EFI) from December 1, barring Indian riders and officials from international competitions amid a prolonged governance crisis.

The suspension also prevents India from ‌hosting FEI-sanctioned events and comes as the country seeks to establish itself as a major sporting destination while pursuing a bid for the 2036 Olympics.

An FEI spokesperson told Reuters that the EFI would not be allowed to attend or be represented at meetings of FEI bodies during the suspension.

"The situation will be reviewed once elections for the Executive Committee of the Equestrian Federation of India have been held and the results evaluated by the FEI," the spokesperson said.

EFI members would also be barred from international events organised by the FEI or other national federations, whether competing under the Indian federation's flag or the FEI flag, the spokesperson added.

Reuters has contacted the EFI for comment.

The suspension follows years of governance disputes within the EFI.

In February 2026, the Delhi High Court dissolved the federation's executive committee, whose elected tenure had expired in September 2023 but had continued in office under interim court orders to avoid ‌disruption ahead of the Paris Olympics.

The court directed the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) to appoint an ad-hoc committee to oversee the sport and conduct fresh elections under India's new National Sports Governance Act.

The court ruled there was no justification for an elected body whose term had expired to continue in office and ordered a transition to a new administration under a restructured constitution.

Those elections are yet to be held while uncertainty has continued under the ad-hoc committee.

Earlier this year, the Delhi High Court, while upholding a contested selection decision, flagged a lack of clarity in the ad-hoc committee's athlete selection process and stressed the need for greater transparency and consistency in future selections.

From December 1, Indian athletes, officials, trainers and horses will be barred from FEI-sanctioned competitions and events organised by other national federations.

The suspension further isolates a sport that delivered India a team dressage gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023.

Education What the hell is wrong with our education system?

A friend of mine who teaches at a government school recently told me something that has genuinely made me angry.

Apparently, teachers are being forced to pass students till Class 11 by hook or by crook. Why? Because the higher-ups want a 100% pass rate in their districts. The collectors have pressure from the state education minister, who wants to show excellent results during his tenure. God forbid students fail under his watch and make his performance look bad.

My friend personally knows principals who were suspended for being honest and refusing to facilitate this nonsense. Imagine being punished for doing your job honestly. Teachers are practically risking their jobs for refusing to manipulate results.

And no, this is not Bihar or Jharkhand. I don't mean to demean these states, but they have historically been singled out for such practices, while the rest of the country gets a free pass. I genuinely wonder how widespread this is across India.

Just think about how messed up this is. Instead of improving schools, providing resources, training teachers, and ensuring children actually learn something, we are handing out free passes so politicians can boast about their achievements. And then we wonder why unemployment is so high, why graduates struggle to find jobs, and why young people are losing hope. I don't blame the students at all. They are victims of a system that has failed them.

And honestly, if our politicians are willing to manipulate something as fundamental as children's education to protect their image, do you really think other numbers, including GDP figures, are beyond question? I'm not claiming they are manipulated. I'm just saying that when the system rewards appearances over reality, it's difficult not to question things.

I'm not saying this is exclusive to the current government. I'm pretty sure this has happened under previous governments too. I have no allegiance to BJP or Congress. As far as I'm concerned, both deserve scrutiny.

I'm just genuinely angry and sad about what our country has become. Corruption is eating away at the very foundations of this nation, and the worst part is that even our children's future is being sacrificed to protect the image of politicians.

I honestly don't see how we can progress meaningfully if this is how we operate.

People Have you ever noticed a strange sense of competition with cousins around your age?

• Upvotes

I’m a guy, and I’ve noticed something interesting about family dynamics, especially with female cousins who are around my age.

Sometimes, I feel like there’s this unspoken sense of competition. It could be about career, appearance, lifestyle, relationships, or just how you’re doing in life.

I’ve also noticed that sometimes the way they interact with you feels a little different from typical sibling-like interactions. There’s more teasing, curiosity about your personal life, or a certain kind of attention that’s difficult to explain.

I’m not suggesting there’s necessarily anything deeper to it. It could simply be normal family dynamics, especially when cousins are close in age.

But I’m curious whether other people in India have noticed something similar.

Do you think cousins around the same age sometimes develop a mix of competitiveness, curiosity, and a desire for attention, or am I just overthinking it?

Hey all! I posted about my medication and mental health a few weeks ago, and got a bunch of questions regarding the side effects of the mentioned medications, so I decided to make this post to answer any questions you have regarding side effects, withdrawal symptoms, alternatives, and how I managed to successfully stop my meds and get back my will to live.

I'm 35, and have been on a bunch of medication for a good number of years for mental health concerns (OCD with psychosis, Schizophrenia, Bipolar, anxiety and depression, and Anorexia / Bulimia) I have been wrongly diagnosed by multiple doctors, been used as a test subject (lab rat) and was given the green light for Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).

I am now off of my meds, and have pretty much gotten my life back on track. I am a psychologist now. I took up psychology to better understand my illnesses and to help out where I can. If you, or anyone you know is struggling with an illness, or have questions on the following medication, I'll be more than happy to give you my insight.

I have been on the following meds:

Clomipramine

Risperidone

Escitalopram

Clonazepam

Propranolol

Olanzapine

Cariprazine

Amisulpride

Fluvoxamine

Quetiapine

Depakote

Lorazepam

Aripiprazole

Inspiral

Fluvoxitine

Sertraline

Petril-Beta

Zolcalm (Zolpidem + Melatonin)

Licab

Parkin*

Pacitane*

Duloxetine

Ativan

I have documented my journey since day 1 of my treatment, and I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you have regarding my experience with the mentioned medication. Love you all! 🫶

Health Anyone using the Native RO from Urban Company?

Anyone using the Native RO from Urban Company?

I'm considering buying the Native RO, but I'm unsure about the after-sales service.

I live in Bareilly, UP, and Urban Company's service doesn't appear to be available here for this product.

If you own this RO, I'd like to know how it's been working for you. Have you faced any issues with servicing, filter replacement, or spare parts?

Also, if anyone has experience using it in a city where Urban Company doesn't provide service, please share how you handled maintenance.

Would appreciate some genuine feedback before I make a decision. Thanks!
