There are very clear notices outside the gurudwara that photography and videography are not allowed. It is not a picnic spot for influencers to go around doing “a day in the life of ..”
Would people go around doing a vlog in an exam session or a job interview?
There are hundreds of these instances of influencers taking vlogs in gurudwaras despite clear notices. The crowds and footfall they manage are extremely huge. Their goal is to create an atmosphere where people can peacefully pray. But people can be so inconsiderate and uncivil when taking vlogs
The respect and sanctity of religious places be it a gurudwara or a mandir or church or mosque should be respected. These are not picnic spots and normalizing influencers creating videos for the gram would go against the purpose of these places of worship where people want to peacefully pray and connect with God. Similar rules exist in most other major temples and are enforced strictly. Would people not want to maintain sanctity of those places by following the rules? Would you support the influencer at Kedarnath temples who started filming a marriage proposal? On-the spot forced video deletions are done in most major temples sites, eg Kedarnath

They very much photograph and video record for all celebrities and international guests.
Heck, they even broadcast their gurbani on live TV!

The official broadcasting of Gurbani is tightly controlled by the managing body to ensure that global devotees who cannot visit in person still have regular access to the prayers. The telecast is managed from the managing body infrastructure and it does not cause any physical interference to the people praying on the ground. Even with Akshardham, nobody can make videos or photos, only their official managing body can record videos and other digital content. Major temples and places of worship (for eg TTD in Tirupati) handle things similarly, explicitly do not allow vlogging and ban tripods, etc
Media networks, publicly recognized institutions, and international dignitaries must formally apply for and receive explicit authorization to record videos.
Celebrities are also not allowed to take videos and are subject to same rules as the common man unless they are associated or a part of a visit with a recognized institution that has applied and received authorization to do so. But if they are coming by themselves, they also cannot take videos and don’t have any exemption.
However, many people and sevadaars themselves have noticed enforcement failure with celebs and that is a valid complaint. However, this also stems from a chaotic enforcement - When a massive celebrity enters the complex, they are immediately swarmed by crowds. In those high-stress moments, these sevadaars are more focused on moving the celebrity through quickly to prevent dangerous stampedes or security bottlenecks. But yes, if a celebrity takes a quick phone video it correctly warrants criticism. This is an enforcement failure, according to the gurudwara rules they are not allowed to take videoes as well except for the scenario I mentioned above. Definitely room to improve here.
But equating these much rarer occasions (which can cause a lot of chaos) to a wide open public policy is a logistically absurd. The footfall exceeds 1-1.5Lakh visitors daily, and turning the complex into a free for all content production zone would instantly create chaos and devotees who just want to pray will not be able to do so. Also dealing with 1-1.5lakh dynamic crowd daily, it becomes humanly impossible for volunteers to enforce rules with absolute uniformity across every square foot of the complex.
In any case, unregulated influencer culture is fundamentally incompatible with a living house of prayer. Filming blocks pathways, disturbs the silence and calm required for devotion and invades the privacy of people. This is not a aesthetic backdrop for social media.
There was a widely criticized film proposal vlog outside Kedarnath temple by an influencer, another influencer who burst crackers outside Kedarnath temple to celebrate their birthday. They were appropriately handled by the temple administration, which ultimately helps in protecting the sanctity of a place of worship.

Sevadars themselves participate in pics and videos when goras show up. I can show you if you haven't seen them.

There are many vlogs of Indians with sevadaars and gurudwara volunteers too. You can find many of them on youtube.
But yes, enforcement should be done uniformly.

Nah, never expect anything fair from Khalistan supporters.

No, I just know what to expect when I see Bhindiwala glorified.
Not the first time either. Golden Temple glorified General Dyer too. AFTER the Jallianwala Massacre.
Sikhism is cool, the people in charge of it now are trash.

You’re bringing so many out-of-topic points to a post which is about taking videos in a gurudwara. Where did I even once mention of Bhindranwale in my earlier comments? Just wow…
And re: Jallianwala, the Gurudwara was under British colonial rule at the time. Sikhs were not in control of the gurudwara. Why leave this part out? There was major backlash and that’s how the gurudwara reform movement started.
Anyway, I’m not going to engage further as I’ve been pretty reasonable and respectful throughout this conversation and the assumptions and type of profiling I’m receiving is extremely undeserved and discriminatory.

It's literally true.
No Hindu is ever abused, under any excuses, in Gurudwaras without a Bhindi portrait. I've tried this IRL.

I went there having so much hopes finding best choli kurta to suit me bangles saw vlogs etc and when we reached they said no photography firstly I was devastated but I wasn't angry on them coz its fine if they dont allow but they were okay with local ppl like them clicking photo right infront of us and were complaining why were we. That time I lost it and decided never in my life would visit it again nor suggest anyone. Double standard are crazy in some ppl idk what was wrong thre but i completely disliked it.

I’m a local and I’ve been reprimanded as well at Harmandir Sahib when I was making a video. I was not aware of the rule at that time. And it’s a good rule to have because inconsiderate people can make places of worship like India Gate and the whole point of being able to do peaceful prayer will be lost. This is a required rule in my opinion especially when footfall is crazy high and crowds are hard to manage. It’s not easy for sevadaars to oversee and correct everyone uniformly.
When I visit temples and churches I refrain from taking videos and photos and try to maintain decorum as per the rules of the place. That is my personal duty to remain considerate of the place I visit. There’s a difference in making vlogs at shops for clothing/bangles and a place of worship. These rules exist in most major religious sites.

My relatives regularly do their prarthanas in gurudwara. I guess this doesn’t cut it for news headlines.. Guru’s core teachings are anybody from any religion can come and pray to god as they like. It’s all different ways to reach the same god.

Harmandar Sahib is not a recreational area, neither is a park to shoot vlogs.
Humble request to all to not come with intentions to have recreational activities.
HARMANDAR SAHIB IS NOT A RECREATIONAL AREA.
I repeat -
HARMANDAR SAHIB IS NOT A RECREATIONAL AREA.

Tell that to Sevadars to follow that rule for all communities and not just for selected few instead of scouting on the sub in capitals

To me you seems like a decent educated fellow here is something for you to ponder upon.
As a righteous person which I assumes are the gurus teaching have a look here at this video
What do you feel? Do Sevadars like white skin and tiktok more than fellow Indians? Because when a gora did this, the happiness on their faces is clearly visible

u/TotallyNotCharsi 1d ago
Thats because gora can give truck/cab driver job in Portugal
What do Indian hindus give other than place to live, practise religion, claim moral superiority for running so called free langoors

Who are you waiting for bud.. did you not submit your grievance yet?
I mentioned that if you have noticed something then you should do your due diligence and raise your concerns to the authorities.
Sending videos here will not bring a change.

Are you allright buddy? Repeating same messages again

u/Gagandeep_ 1d ago
You yourself is trying to prove a point which I never denied, if you feel something is not right, there shall be an action for it.
What’s your point? When did I deny that you are wrong?
It’s not a recreational area is what I said. If you feel the authorities have been giving different treatment, then report it bud.

Any gurudwara that sports a photo/painting of Bhindi is a political clubhouse for Khalistanis, not a spiritual place.
