Redditors are some of the biggest puritans, they just hide it behind social justice etc

I’m sorry, are you calling me a puritan because I like social justice? Those don’t seem very related here, fellow Month Python fan.

Silence! What is all this insolence??

Also, no, I didn’t call you a puritan. I was referring to the pearl clutching redditors who gasp at age differences.

I mean a 31 year old age gap is pretty fking big especially when that gap is 50% longer than the other person has even been alive.

When the younger person is in their fucking 30’s I don’t see how that matters anymore

They're 20

So? It's the age of sexual liberation..consenting adults can fuck each other however and whomever they please

2

u/AetrianDimi 4d ago

"Age of sexual liberation"

You got to realize how fucking weird that is.

Being able to legally doesnt change how easy it is the manipulate people in that age range when youre far older, 20 year olds aren't smart

Yes they are they're in university

1

u/AetrianDimi 4d ago

Spoken like someone who's yet to get into university

Bigotry of low expectations.

Are you saying young adult women are easily manipulated by older men? Do these young women not have full agency and autonomy like all adults do?

Toby Maguire is a former A(B?) list celebrity, has millions in the bank, is not unattractive, seems to be charismatic and charming. Why exactly would a young beautiful woman need to be manipulated by him to want to be in a relationship with him? And why is this the default position for puritanical Redditors who likely have never had a romantic relationship?

Older isnt the issue, the age gap itself wouldn't even be much of a problem if they were older. (Like 30 and 61), but fking 20 is ridiculous. Dunno why we should just "mind their own fucking business" when people are being creeps

Nobody said it wasn't their choice.

But you lot always focus on the younger person's choice as if they're the only person making a choice.

It's not their choice that's the problem.

It's the choice of the 50 year old who knows very well they (the 50 year old) are making a choice that is a bad choice for the 20 year old and likely to harm their well-being that is the problem.

What kind of person enters a relationship knowing its a bad idea for the other person because they're likely to cause that other person harm? Then says it's fine because they won't be responsible for any foreseeable harm they cause the other person, because the other person (who didn't understand why it's such a bad idea) also chose the relationship?

That's not love, that's exploitation with a ready-made alibi.

Yeah a consensual relationship the older person knows is manipulative and will cause harm. Just because the younger person consents doesnt make it right or okay. Please explain what happens on their 18th birthday that causes their brain to magically gain full sentience so can consent and not be manipulated or make bad choices?

The label of adult doesn't really mean shit as if all adults are the same. And yeah, they can make choices, really fucking stupid choices that can lead to them getting exploited by far older and experienced people

"Cope" what're you 12? Is that why you think 20 magically transforms you into a fully developed adult?

It’s mainly just GenZ. Everyone else has perspective except them.

“The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. … They contradict their parents … and tyrannize their teachers.”

A summarization of complaints from Ancient Greece regarding the youth.

Its the opposite. They pretend to be puritans to virtue signal social justice.
