It’s probably all the little Timmy’s deep into NTR that can’t even fathomably conceptualize adults having the basic ability to move on constructively, and mutually separate if relationships don’t work out.

I’m still friends with my ex, because guess what, I was already friends with her long before I dated her. Is it this recent phenomenon where you have to cut contact with them if things don’t romantically work?

I think the point is in a lot of circumstances there’s a lot of bitterness for the sake of bitterness. I had to distance myself from my ex for a while to reset my perception of our relationship. So I do agree there’s absolutely nothing wrong with just walking away.

The bitterness tho. That’s the shit that kills you.

15% of relationships is an interesting statistic. Did you know 83% of statistics are made up on the spot?

You don't have to cut contact but officiating your ex wife's wedding is kinda weird.

Based on the insanely acrimonious divorces within my friends circle, I feel the “officiating my ex-wive’s new wedding” is not as common as “my ex-wife hates me and wants to run over my new gf” scenario.

I get I was being hyperbolic with my comment, and a couples others have provided reasonable counterpoints. Having said that, yeah sorry, but you shut the fuck up.

‘Happy fantasy’. What I said was possibly the most basic shit ever, which is what I meant to point out. Is it really that difficult to imagine a scenario where people can work out their problems and be in good terms after ending a romantic relationship?

I was critiquing the weirdly pessimistic attitude OP (and others) had with this exact context, less so normalizing Tobey being the main person for the vows (although this shit is still funny).

It’s really not that deep. Some people can’t find common ground and not maintain connections, but there are enough people that can go past that and maintain whatever friendship they already have. Having to walk away because of bitterness or a falling out is normal… I was also saying, in regard to that, people can absolutely move on positively too.

No one’s living in your nihilistic bullshit where everything apparently should never go right. I don’t need to entertain b.s takes and you being a little bitch just because the world isn’t sunshine and rainbows.
