The other one made a hole in the wall but was later caught.

Suspect, 17, managed to flee the Rock County Sheriff’s Office in Janesville after being left alone in an interview room. The teenager had been hauled from his classroom at Orfordville Parkview High School on October 18 and arrested on suspicion of strangulation in an August 1 assault. Footage shows the teen heading straight for the window as the detective leaves the room. He opens the blinds and pushes the window out before diving headfirst from 12ft up. A second camera picks him up sprinting across the lawn making his getaway. About 14 minutes later, the detective returns to find the room empty and the window wide open.

It’s so stupid to do this because if they have your name, they’re just going to arrest you unless you leave the state. You add on so much more in potential charges and sentencing by doing that

Q was sentenced to 4 years in prison, followed by 4 years of extended supervision. He pleaded guilty to escape and strangulation charges; the escape happened in October 2018 when he was 17 and jumped through a second-story interrogation-room window while handcuffed.
34
u/EggfooDC 15h ago
Most impressed that the kid went headfirst out that window from 12 feet up

u/AFlyingNun 10h ago
Falls only start to get significantly dangerous for prepared jumpers starting at the 3rd floor. The only oddity is more that we see him jump face-first
Also worth noting:
-This seems to be a USA clip and of course we're on a USA-dominated website. 2nd floor is actually the 1st floor for most countries, just in case anyone is confused. He is not as high up as some people might be thinking.
-We do not know what he jumped into. For all we know there was something there to break his fall. Logic dictates he may have only done this because he saw something or had some plan for his jump that helped assure him he'd be fine. That's speculative though.

And then I'd break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.
435
u/simmonslemons 15h ago
I always like that the son being the police chief has no relevance to the rest of the story.
94
u/WoodenSwordsman 14h ago
i assume the son being the chief of police implies the chandelier theft case has been swept under the rug, so OOP is free to return to Tiffany, but he's been a horny bard too long to fall for that old chestnut. Move before she starts to show, and deny till you die.
62
u/DinosaurReborn 13h ago edited 13h ago
I thought the complete opposite: the son pushed himself to become chief of police due to the trauma of being raised by a single mother who's business was destroyed by his criminal father and thus was seeking vengeance and Tiffany was trying to warn Dwight that their son is closing in.

but youd have to knock someone else to get their uniform unless you can get to the locker room and bust one open without getting caught.
choking them out only lasts minutes so youd have to work real fast, and hitting them in the head is gonna cause near attempted homicide levels of damage. you literally cant get caught at that point, meanwhile this dude is just gonna get a fleeing charge and the cop is gonna be called an idiot

I was a university student. Went to a party. A white guy who was an honors student got drunk and started strangling a girl, people called the cops. Guy's mother and their lawyer showed up and started negotiating with the cops right there about how the guy was a straight A honors student, full ride scholarship, all that jazz. Cops let him off with a warning.
Be white, be rich, have a good lawyer. You can get away with anything in America.

I remember me and my friends were visiting another country. We met a local guy and started hanging out with him. He was charming and popular with the girls. He was telling us a story about a crazy ex who accused him of strangling her, but he claimed he didn't do it. "Uh ok.. that's crazy". But then later, he was hiding from someone he saw in public, and said it was another girl who had wrongly accused him of hitting and choking her.
Needless to say, all the sudden we were very uncomfortable around our new friend, and made a point to lose him as soon as possible. You don't get wrongly accused of such things by multiple, unrelated people.

u/TehStickles 17h ago
In a lot of countries it's not even illegal to escape from jail. Of course you have to finish your time out if you get caught but it's a natural reaction to being locked up.
I probably read it on Reddit but the first time I heard of this I was like that's kind of intuitive if you think about it
103
u/haruku63 16h ago
That’s how it is in Germany.
But, of course, if you use force to get away, you get punished for that. But if you just run away, you are fine, no additional time when you get caught.25
u/CockTortureCuck 15h ago
Exactly. If that was a German cell, he's most likely just getting an invoice from the station for the destroyed window blinds.

The amount of people I've seen in my life who turn a light punishment into a years long ordeal is pretty mind blowing.
I don't know the context of this clip, but I assume since there's even a window there in the first place that whatever he's arrested for is not that big on the grand scheme of charges, but jumping out that window just increased the wanted star level a good deal.

Dude! Literally not that long ago, a girl in my town got pulled over for speeding, nothing crazy 50 in a 35 or something. Cop asks for license and she starts arguing, cop leans in and she takes off drags the cop and enters a high speed chase.
They caught her not an hour later at her friends house, the owner of the vehicle.
She was an absolute dumbass, if she had just accepted her ticket whether driving without a license or speeding or what the fuck ever, can’t be as bad as running from police and injuring an officer and whatever else they tacked on.

I’ll bet he landed in a somersault. If he did it right, he would just roll and start running. Wrong with hands cuffed though could be fatal. So my guess is he knows a bit about martial arts or parkour or he would have gone feet first, would have been just as quick afa going through the window.

Well, defenestration is throwing someone out of a window, while this here is jumping out of a window.
13
u/lastbeer 17h ago
Naturally, in this context I would have used self-defenestration or, my preference, autodefenestration.
7
u/gonzogonzobongo 16h ago
Well, naturally, here is an opportunity to provide a fact that will be the torture of some poor single woman at a bar somewhere. Deploy wisely, men. “Fenestra” means window in latin. “De” is a neolatin prefix approximately meaning “out of”. “Tion” is a suffix meaning, approximately, “the act of.” So together, defenestration is the act of throwing (someone) out of a window. Given the etymology, I think it could be argued that one could throw themself out of a window. So I think defenestration could be an appropriate description of what is occurring in this video. I defenestrate you, I defenestrate myself. I throw you out of a window, I throw myself out of a window. 3 tall boys deep, thank you for attending my ted talk

No you can defenestre yourself. It's a french word and it's most of the time used for jumping yourself out of a window.
"Il s'est défenestré" => he defenestred (himself)
however there is a reason it wouldn't be used in this context , it's only use when people either died or almost died.
